If they’re letting him hit in spring, no doubt they’ll let him in the fall when the reps really matter. There is a lot of talk that Trey smith will be cleared for Fall camp.
Lets dream for a moment...There is a lot of talk that Trey smith will be cleared for Fall camp.
he has. and unforutnately, we still lost to Vandy and USCe too.Pruitt has also shown he can get a upset win or 2 as well. Very possible with 8 wins and 9 with the bowl.
that would allow guys like Locklear, Ryan Johnson and Tatum to do what they're probably supposed to do..........be depth players.Lets dream for a moment...
Morris, Smith, Kennedy, Calbert, Wright. with Carvin and JJ next man up would make me excited for OL play this fall. And sure, starting two OT's as freshman isn't ideal but at least they're 5stars and over 300lbs. That's a big beefy talented OL right there in those 5-7 guys. PLEASE happen.

so we're still in that kinda purgatory right now not knowing what we have, really....that's just an observation not an indictment.
i like the direction we're headed in.
would really like to see us win a game we're not supposed to....and most/all of the ones we're supposed to...and see where that lands us in December.
but yeah, i agree...i think 8 is at least as doable as 7 looking at the schedule.
there's a lot i would "take" i guess....As long as we make a bowl game and have another top 15ish class then i will take it.
I also think it depends on how we lose. If we go 6-6 and lose 5 games by 30 each time again...it’s a problem.
But even if we only go 6-6 and we lose to UGA, UF, BAma, etc by like a combined 30 then it’s a little different.
Lord have mercy, seriously, what is it with you and Jones?
meh. the roster wasn't good. and what are you gonna do from an accountability standpoint for a group of coaches in year 1? Fair got fired and Helton got "placed". so there were "issues" addressed on the staff.Nothing didn’t let the wheels fall off the wagon here...he let the whole horse die.
That being said, i don’t think the roster can be used as an excuse for bad losses last year but then “expecting” at least 7-8 wins with the bulk majority those same guys. There’s just a lot of finger pointing at those players and not holding any coaching accountable.
VQ podcast today...Simonton saying that Trey Smith is on multiple 1st Round NFL Draft mocks for next year and they're speculating that maybe word behind the scenes is that he's going to get cleared and play this fall. Would be nice for the Vols to get some monster good news like that.

but the roster is an issue. it was big time last year. and it probably will be until at least next year, probably 21 if we're being honest....
if he does come back, i'd think they'd stick with Wanya at LT, and put Smith at LG don't you? That’s a tough one because even if trey comes out and has a fantastic year, it’s hard for me to see a team spending a 1st rounder on a player with blood clot issues. I think he is a first round talent at guard not tackle. I wish he would go back to that.
I'd rather see Carvin start at Center...I'm not sold on Kennedy and he'll be gone after one season either way.
He had the absolute worst blown assignment and only played in 1 game...
Either way Trey back puts the team in a far better spot, and despite the risk I think it could put him medically in a better spot. The biggest worry with his condition is throwing a clot and the best way to prevent/avoid that is to monitor and catch the clots early enough to break them up. Playing sports and having medical staff available all the time seems like a good way to keep monitoring it.
i think there was. the roster is what it is, and will be a slower turn around than the staff.I agree with you. There just needs to be accountability on both sides.
