The Rock says....(Merged)

That's pathetic, yah, that will make them want to win, seeing a sign that basically says you suck.... whoever likes this picture isn't a fan, nor a fan of college football, that makes me sick, and it's pathetic. If i was a recruit and saw that, i would want to go to florida so i could kick the **** out of this team every year....pathetic, makes me sick.....

And you probably vote Democrat and Nancy Pelosi is your savoir.

This may sound harsh, but I don't feel that bad for the students.

I do agree that they should not have to pay for tickets. However, student attendance at games has been going down over the last few years. I think the athletic dept. should have reduced the allotment for students, rather than make them pay. It looked bad to see a lot of empty seats in the student section when the rest of the stadium was full (I think Fulmer found a way to solve this issue, have no one show up for games:ermm:).

I will still be there and Go Vols!

P.S. (please retire so I can remember you as a good coach that got out when he realized he lost it)

Don't you think there may be a correlation between student attendence and performance on the field?

Cry me a river-you had to take classes in other buildings? How about this...I have to take my psych classes in buildings all over campus. I've even had to take them on the agricultural campus. We don't have our own classroom building.

Why rebuild Glocker while constructing 2-3 new buildings when there are buildings in need of serious maintenance right now???? The library is so pathetic I've had to help put tarps over the books just to keep them dry when it rains.

The library is in the Master Plan to be renovated to the tune of $29,000,000.

Trust me, people got paid a lot of money to prioritize which buildings need renovated/rebuilt first. They make their living on it.

I've seen firsthand how poorly UT manages it's money. Look up how much the renovations in the Commons area of Hodges cost. These past renovations occurred only two years after they had already renovated once. The roofing in that area alone cost 80,000 (I'm not sure if that was just for the North side or if it included north AND south). Look up how much the furniture cost: The average chair in that room now costs about 300 dollars while the wooden chairs they replaced cost only 120. The wooden chairs lasted 20 years and for the most part they were in great condition. The week they moved in all of the new furniture to the Commons, the Facilities department of Hodges was flooded with requests to repair the new furniture because it had already broken.

I have, in fact, seen what you are referring to. I've performed quite a bit of research while working at the library for people who were interested in finding answers some of the questions I've posed here.

Then you should call the state auditors and tell them that Mike Hamilton is stealing money from the University of Tennessee to fund his illegal illuminati operations. They'd be very interested to find that a young student somehow uncovered what an army of auditors never thought of.

I'm not attacking you, I just think that somewhere along the way you've been misinformed.

You apparently haven't seen the damage that has been done to some of the texts stored in the library. Half of the books there are insanely tattered as it is...the last thing students need is to have to sort through books that are not only tattered but soggy to boot.

The architects who designed Hodges were also paid quite a large sum of money. You can look up news reports that discuss the architectural deficiencies that the building has had since day one.

The architects who designed the architectural building were also paid a large sum. The architecture department was so outraged at how horrible the building was constructed that they refused to move into it after it was built until it was fixed.

I worked as a student assistant at the library for two years. Every member of the staff excluding the assistant dean of the library was a constant buzz after reading how much these renovations cost. I, myself, carried a large portion of those wooden chairs to storage myself while I was employed there....I was also there when the new ones were stacked at my boss' door begging to be fixed because a wheel fell off or whatnot.

If we bump the library up to the top of the list, I promise that the folks that have been waiting in line for years for new facilities would have a word or two to say.

The Music Building was built to accommodate 150 students. It now has over 450. In no way is it an acceptable learning environment. Every time the marching band practices indoors they're breaking fire code.

TNJN - $40 million goes to new music building

It's unfortunate the library was designed poorly, but there are alot of buildings that need fixing. We can't just move things around at will. People have been waiting for years for Glocker to be fixed. I hated every miserable moment in that building.

The AMB building is newly remodeled, as is the biology building.

They're working on getting the campus up to date..it's just going to take a while. Nothing they're doing on campus to these buildings is affected by, or has any effect on the Athletic Department budget. If the AD wants a new building, they get the money donated and build it.

Looks like whoever did the buying for the library severely misappropriated funds. If you need a roof, you don't buy chairs.

The library benefits everyone affiliated with the university. Besides, it was only one example-I was pointing out that they're doing internal renovations vs. external renovations aka vanity vs. function.

I'm well aware of the music building being horrible. I've had my share of classes there. I wasn't excluding it by not making an example of it-there are just way to many things to list.

Seriously though, I'm ready to pretend you no longer exist. You've got your opinion, I've got mine...mine is just as factually based as yours.

I'm sorry you feel that way. Arguing based on "so and so building is bad" is not as effective as saying "a lot of buildings are bad, and we have a plan to fix them, it just takes time because each phase is in the 100's of millions of dollars."

I promise that Glocker was not rebuilt out of vanity. I think the university just finally decided that if you're going to build something, do it right, because the state probably won't give you money to fix it for 75 years.

I've suddenly lost the ability to read, but for some reason it only applies to your posts! :birgits_giggle:

Lol I think that's the best line of action...some people thrive on arguing. They refuse to see that you're making perfect sense because they think they're making perfect-er sense :)

I'm sure his e-peen will find another thread to ride soon enough.

That's it. I'm sorry. All that reason I used totally is as equal as spending half a thread spouting half-truths about where our student fees go, and the other lamenting that the state doesn't fork over a $500,000,000 check and closes the University so that they can fix every problem on campus.

I guess it would be easier if I talked about everything like the only thing holding us back was saving up a little more fairy dust so that when we wake up the next day, all is well.

Lol he's still talking

As are you. You should be on the phone with the state.

Hamilton is stealing our student services fee.
The folks in charge of the Master Plan were wrong.
Glocker didn't need renovation before the library.
Nothing needs renovation before the library.
Not having AC in some dorms is somehow the fault of Men's Athletics.
Etc.
Etc.

You're misconstruing everything she has said....which I don't think is a surprise in the least.

Not to mention, she said she's done with it and you STILL can't drop it. Go find someone else to beat on. Both sides have made valid points, but it doesn't mean she should be kissing your ___ in submission.

GJ VWB for not taking his crap and moving on :)

I took everything point by point. No misconstruing exact quotes.

I do love that when people are "done" arguing, they must have the last word by telling others that they have to have the last word and should drop it.

I love it almost as much as internet posters excited anytime a girl comes around.

I'm female as well....

And now I'm done with you too. :eek:lol:

That explains it, as well. From now on, when I enter into threads, I promise that I won't use reason.

Nothing against women, but it takes one to be able to end confrontation without resolution.

He was going to find a reason to discredit me in any way he could...If I were male, it's because I'm defending a female. If I were female, I'm just being a woman.

Sorry that you feel someone should have to agree with you for an argument to end.

I have a feeling that you're not a ladies' man

No. I discredit you because I fail to understand how both arguments are valid, considering one tied student fees to the men's athletic department, despite ample evidence stating otherwise.

There is plenty of crow eaten on this board, and most everyone can admit when they're wrong. Basing arguments on nothing, then stating "i'm done with you" when you've run out of talking points is not civil discourse.

Lord help ya if Hat gets a hold of some of you.
