Trufe. I don't understand runners

Running in nature is like meditating. Very relaxing. Being outside and near/in nature has been shown to improve mental health and lower stress. It is as good for your mind and soul as much as your body. That's why my wife and I like running and walking.

Weights, basketball, etc at the gym are nice, but I don't get the same relaxation effect there. Clanging weights, loud music, it creates more audible and visual clutter than outdoors.
 
It’s actually kinda funny because people are busting his chops and he’s talking like he’s billy badass..... all the while looking like a 150lb stick in his profile pic.

Can walk too. Either way you will get the effects of the outdoors. What, you love the concrete jungle? I live and work in one too, but even more reason to get back into the outdoors - camping, hiking, etc. If that makes one a hippie, so be it. Have your concrete.
