the sentiment is that there's only 6 or 7 episodes this season (forget which) and it feels like there's A LOT left on the table....with two episodes devoted to setting up the battle at Winterfel.
i get that. that was my initial reaction as well watching.
but why was it excellent? well, we've watched this show for a long time, and this is the first time since season one many of these characters have been together at the same time. so seeing the dynamic now, knowing the history of each....it just adds to the already existing tensions as these folks supposedly unite to fight a common enemy. i liked it a lot. we've waited a long time for some of these people to meet up again, and here we are. i'm glad they did this episode the way they did.
now, would it have been personally satisfying had Bran killed Jamie on the spot? yep........... but it was still cool to see them speak to each other....
anyway....i get why people are miffed. i'm kinda ready for some bad azz battles and some story stopping kills as well.
but i'm glad they gave us these two episodes to see how some characters basically wrap up with one on another.....felt like a good bye episode for several.......which i'm cool with.
Yeah, we've got roughly 5 hours of show left, as I would imagine the remaining episodes will be a little longer than one hour each. That's actually a lot of time to wrap up the plot completely. It can't all be battles and action or else the audience would get fatigued. GoT has always been about characters above all else, and last night's episode felt like a Season 1 episode to me with the relaxed pacing.
