I’m worried about our OL but I feel ok about our DL if Solomon gets approved and they stay healthy.
We don’t have to be great or even good on the OL. We just can’t be terrible. Just be ok and we’ll be fineThe OL is really the main reason I'm not high on 7-5/8-4 (hell, even 9-3)
My prediction for our best and/or most serviceable OL players this year:
Ryan Johnson: RG/C
Wanya: LT
then a gulch hopefully occupied by Darnell at RT
K'rojhn Calbert: G
Jahmir Johnson: LG
Brandon Kennedy: C
...
Like, we only have 3 or maybe 4 legitimate pieces depending on what you think about BK. I think we'll see improvement throughout the next few years, especially if we hold onto the bulk of the staff. But I think next year will be only a little better than last year. We'll cut down on catastrophe plays, but we still won't be able to bank on 3yards when we need it.
I think context will be important too. How we compete and the strength of opponents will determine whether 7-5 is big improvement or not.100% agree. 7-5 is a successful year. Thats GA State, UAB, BYU, Chattanooga, Vandy, UK, and one of Miss St/Missouri/Scar.
If Chaney can get improvement enough to put us in normal sack percentages and RB's at least getting a foot beyond the los before contact (again, just normal). The OL is really the main reason I'm not high on 7-5/8-4 (hell, even 9-3)

Man, imagine if Smith somehow comes back. Suddenly our OL outlook would be for us have a decent chance at being solid. Right now we’re all just praying that they don’t suck again. The OL is really the main reason I'm not high on 7-5/8-4 (hell, even 9-3)

Nothing wrong with limiting expectations given what we've been through.I don't mean to sound like such a downer, I'm just trying to keep expectations in line.
I mean, last fall, we were getting giddy about VFL's tweeting that we could win 8. Then the 1st play of WVU brought us back to earth.
Even without Trey, I do think we improve. I just think it'll only be enough to get us to 6 or 7 wins, nothing beyond that. :/
I instigate in yer general direction.Nothing wrong with limiting expectations given what we've been through.
Understandable, maybe even smart. Plus it's how you feel, you're not doing anything just to instigate. And I think instigation has played a major factor in the hot mess the board has been lately.
One thing that is going to be interesting is playing Oklahoma next year with them breaking in a new QB against what should be a good DB group for us. Wish it was a home game.
Still hurts. They've won 11 or 12 every year for like 4 years. And we were so freaking close to adding our name to the short list that handed them a loss.Really need that signature OOC, nationally relevant win. No more botched opportunities.
And I wouldn't be mad if Riley moved to the NFL after this year...
Yeah I'd take that for sure. As long as one of the losses isn't vandy

Instead, just another "should've"
