As a Stro fan Braves shouldn't go after Giles...worst thing you could be as a closer is a head case. Unbelievable stuff but just doesn't have the mental makeup needed. Yes he cussed out Hinch for pulling him in a game.Giles was a straight bum in the playoffs and didnt he get traded for fighting with his manager do not want
Still have no clue what that has to do with not landing elite players over the weekend. Our roster is full of them and we have went 4-8 5-7
I also have mixed feelings on Jordan. I like the way he runs: he’s physical and plays bigger than he is. But his vision is severely lacking at times.I keep waffling on Jordan. He had his bouncing outside issue but it seems like it improved iirc. He had some tough runs against Bama. Averaged second most YPCs last yr. And quietly put up the most YPCs in the O&W game.
Now, him being the subject of one your hot takes, makes me want to root for the guy.lol.
There’s heavy selection bias here though. The USCe game might have been the best game plan Helton put together all year in terms of scheming around how terrible the OL was. We emphasized the quick game and got RBs involved much more than we did in any other game all season. How many of those pass plays actually traveled 30+ yards in the air tho? I charted the South Carolina game and the total combined air yardage of JGs 27 completions was 14 yards. I was subtracting the yards behind the LOS but it’s still crazy.
I’ve talked about it before but he’s a flick thrower And that causes him to float balls and they hang up in there and cause a WR to have to slow down and wait on it. I remember this several times.
Alabama and Clemson have 3 star (or less) contributing or outright starting every season. Annual participants in the NC game. Starchasers can say Bama has a #1 class every season, but up until their first championship, the same couldn’t be said about Clemson. It’s what you do with what you recruit.Still have no clue what that has to do with not landing elite players over the weekend.
Seems like you're kicking him over what other kids decided.
If the elite don't commit, we shouldn't take any players.. or mock those we do? Just not understanding?
Need a little Vol nation power. Had surgery last Monday, had a lesion removed from my chest and go back to doctor Wed to find out if it was malignant or not. Had it for a while and procrastinated till I went to ER for a kidney stone and nurse saw it, went to get a Dr to examine and referred me to another doc.
So would appreciate good thoughts till Wed. TIA
How biased must you be to have worked so close to the team and not have seen any part of the OL’s game as one of the weakest parts of our team? There were stretches last season where they couldn’t go 3 plays in a row without a dumb penalty or somebody completely blowing an assignment. This is a pretty good list.
I think the weakest parts of our team last year were: Pass coverage from ILB, pass protection from RB, & Downfield passing.
I’m hoping DJ gets more from our RBs in that department. To evaluate a RB coach i usually look at the RBs pass pro and route running... Gillespie was a great RB coach and our RBs were always strong in those areas.
