I think the main things stopping that from happening are his age as a closer and the fact that we will have to give up a high draft pick if we do sign him. Due to the restrictions, we need all the picks we can get right now.Dear Atlanta Braves,
Please stop dickin around and sign Kimbrel.
Thanks
Everybody
is that the goal? LolThis fanbase can easily make that a miserable 5 yrs if he keeps choking
That he's honest and not afraid to tell the truth, even if it hurts some people's feels. Yeah, I'm sure recruits hate honesty.Seriously, I don’t want him. All that means is that if someone else comes and does offer to pay the buyout next year, he’ll be gone. What does that say to recruits? I wish he would’ve left
32k for a baseball game? or is that for like a 3 gm series?
Obviously I don't watch college baseball.
I don't get into someone else's faith. It's not for me to judge. I'm thrilled that Barnes is still here. He's definitely overpaid for what he's achieved to this point. I think it was case of it being cheaper to pay Barnes $5m than it would have been to start over with another up and comer. It does show that the university is committed to winning, which is a good thing. On the other hand, especially after his comments yesterday, that he's one paid buyout from leaving. I think it sends the wrong message to recruits and it will be used against him/the Vols on the recruiting trail. It's all over the national media that he'd of left if it weren't for the buyout. You and Bass missed this one. He said in praying for God to show him clarity on what to do and when UCLA couldn't pay his buy out was when he knew God wanted him to stay put. I have been as a minster in that situation before where I just knew I was suppose to move to another state Arizona to be exact only for it to be shut down at the last second if you will and looking back I can tell you if I had gone I would have been miserable. Nothing about the State just the will of God. But anyway my story and I am sticking to it. LOL
One thing he's done is spent a lot of fan equity. He's now viewed as a hired gun, a mercenary. If he doesn't perform, the fan base will not be kind. At this point he nothing to lose regardless. He's ours and we're his. He's gonna get paid. This fanbase can easily make that a miserable 5 yrs if he keeps choking
He literally said if they'd have paid the buyout I'd be out. There's no other way to view that than that he would rather be at UCLA. You can tell yourself differently all you want.
Yeah, I don't watch either. The tweet with that table is linked below. The weekly average is based of the 3-game series for home games. Georgia had the #2 team in the nation and barely pulled 2,000 fans per home game. Mizzou has less than 1,000 per home game. We're a bit above 1,800. #Not_A_Money_Sport_at_UT
How much motivation is there for a new facility? Any? Its a shame because with the right resources and culture, I think UT baseball could do well.Tennessee's stadium only holds around 3000. I think it's the smallest in the SEC by a large margin. Lyndsey Nelson is just in a bad spot on campus. No room to grow and being on a hill next to the football practice facilities there's no way the AD will expand the stadium
Alright, which of you is this?

I'm just thinking out loud with this. Baseball has been asking for facility upgrades for a long while.... But they've been horrible. Vitello seems to be turning the program around. Top 10 RPI, top 25 rankings this year, etc. It'll take a few NCAA tournament appearances. Maybe a couple of CWS appearances but I think (mostly hope) Vitello can get it done.I knew we had new turf but I didn't know if that was the extent of our commitment to baseball for the foreseeable future. More wins = better facilities is fair.
Yeah, I like where baseball is heading a lot under TV. It just sucks that comparatively, LNS is kind of a dump.I'm just thinking out loud with this. Yup. Your last point is spot on. All he did was up his expectations. If he winds up in the NIT next year ,which isn’t out of the question if we lose all 3 of the crew, i wonder how the fans and his attitude is.I don't get into someone else's faith. I caught an interesting comment from Coach Fulmer yesterday. He said something to the affect we are recruiting at a level that we've never seen before at Tennessee. Other than the 5* James that's coming in this fall, we've the recruiting has been very average. We've been able to snag that one 5* from time to time but have never been able to bring in several highly rated guys at a time. This tells me Fulmer is expecting big things, and I don't blame him. He's a top three paid coach in the country, will he produce as a top three paid coach? Time will tell. Is coach Barnes our Kirk Ferentz?
The only point I was trying to get across is that I will be looking at coach Barnes through a different lense fro here on out. Yesterday reinforced that.
