It was only a dumb statement for Barnes' interests if he doesn't want to encourage future job offers that cause his salary to be doubled, all kinds of extra benefits and more money for assistants...why would he want all that?

Seriously though, looks kinda bad to fans, probably won't mean squat after a short period and strengthens his bargaining position...and that's ok.

If someone comes calling who is willing to pay him more and cover his buyout, that means that he will have been VERY successful over these next few years. We will either be willing to up the ante again or will be in a great position to hire the next coach.

The Lightning had the best record in NHL regular season history this year and just got swept by an 8 seed. An 8 seed that is on fire right now, but still. This is why I love playoff hockey.

An 8 seed that just kicked their ass all over the ice for 4 games! Go CBJ!

hockey and baseball there’s no two sports as competitive come post season. Seeding just doesn’t matter. I think baseball should cut back on regular season games and add in more playoffs.

First step to becoming a blue blood is having an AD willing to pay to keep the coaches who start putting you at #1 in the nation. Clemson has possibly put themselves at the tops of CFB by keeping Dabo around. If Barnes has UT beating UK, grabbing some SEC titles, and maybe a national title in the next decade then UT will be quite the destination by the time he leaves.

Clemson is not a blueblood. Not even close. A blueblood is not a recent winning team smh

Nebraska is a BB
Michigan is a BB

Florida is not a BB
Clemson is not a BB

Hope that makes sense.

I'm not even sure one can "become a blueblood". Only history will tell. It would take a long, long time for a newcomer to enter such a respected, historic tier. Long enough that "history" is right now. But if one of those teams is top 10 in wins 100 years from now, so be it .

I take it the word “possibly” doesn’t make sense to you?

"Possibly" is irrelevant. It' so far off base. You mentioned bluebloods, then clemson. They should never be spoken in the same sentence. I guess Villanova and Texas Tech are possibly blueblood basketball programs to you too? You're missing the definition.

You missed the entire point to begin with smart guy. How does a program become one of these “blue bloods”? By keeping the coaches that bring them #1 rankings and titles around. By paying them the money. When exactly a team crosses over from normie to blueblood - idk - but winning games is how you get there. Clemson is doing that with Dabo. Go to bed.

No Blueblood in a sport is about the history. Clemson has no history and has only become relevant in the last 5 years. They have a long while before being thought of a "maybe becoming" a Blueblood.

The history comes from winning. Or else being a blueblood would overflow into all sports for a university.

You and Bass missed this one. He said in praying for God to show him clarity on what to do and when UCLA couldn't pay his buy out was when he knew God wanted him to stay put. I have been as a minster in that situation before where I just knew I was suppose to move to another state Arizona to be exact only for it to be shut down at the last second if you will and looking back I can tell you if I had gone I would have been miserable. Nothing about the State just the will of God. But anyway my story and I am sticking to it. LOL

Agents are loving Barnes this offseason. He is giving so many prime examples for why coaches need/have agents. ****ing idiot is going to get eaten alive as soon as he has a bad year. He has no clue wtf he has done
The one that they should be wary of is the one where he got to be the 3rd highest paid coach in America with just a financial advisor lol
