How to get rid of fulmer with grace

Why would Phil resign and give up the buyout money?
He will make MH fire him.

Phil would have to resign if the year goes completely wrong for another coach to come in. It will be coordinator changes and we will become like Auburn with the revolving coordinators.

Even as ugly as things are right now . . . yes he does.

You're welcome to your opinion. I'll keep mine, thank you. If Fulmer wants to leave gracefully, then he should tender his resignation immediately. Short of that, he doesn't deserve squat. He has been INSANELY overcompensated for a decade.

The millionaires have lost probably 20 - 30% of their value in the financial markets over the past 6 months, so the cash is not free flowing like it used to be.

This is as purely an economic decision as a heart and sole decision. Taking care of yourself and your family is more important than "donating" money to a school because you are tired of losing in a sport.

With that being said, I do think Fulmer should go, but in all reality, it will have to be on his terms.

not according to what the rest of the SEC makes.

Money's a factor, but I don't believe it's the primary one. I believe since CPF is buddies with all the real decisionmakers, they are simply reluctant to pull the trigger. $5M would not be the primary barrier.

It is if you do not understand finances...acording to nashville....
you are correct, that check could be written in the morning if the right people decided they have had enough

The entire UTAD needs a good house cleaning. There is far more overpriced deadwood there than you could ever imagine. It should have been done years ago, but the "good ole boys" in the UTAD are firmly entrenched. They insulated themselves well from the UT system administration to prevent meddling and it has worked all too well. The only way to get rid of it all is to choke off the money.

The recent extensions have complicated things. The team has played BAD football consistently for several years--even the "good" years have been very misleading, with lots of ugly wins over the bad teams in the league. Look at last year: Had the Vols really had a good team, they would have been a very banged up lsu team in the sec title game, but didn't.

Here's the question: What two big boosters are going to stand up and say: "We gotta make a change at head coach, now--and then persuade other big boosters to join them in ousting Fulmer? Which two are going to go to Fulmer and say, "Thanks, big guy, but we gotta make a change now for the good of the program.' These coaches make a mark, become friends with the big boosters, get entrenched and then come to think they are the program! Look at Paterno and Bowden---a couple of geriatic jokes still hanging on; each should have resigned /at least/ a decade ago. Fulmer lost it years ago, but he'll want to keep coaching and prove to everybody he can turn the ship around and win big again. That's the problem. But it's probably going to get pretty ugly this year--likely losses to georgia and bama, for starters--and we'll say which of the money men, if any, says "Enough."

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha. You're funny. Now that Fulmer is competing against top notch SEC coaches, we are getting spanked. Maybe he used to not have the competition he has now and his true colors are showing through...

Here is a recipe for Fulmer to follow....

Figure out why we keep beating Georgia...
then do that 11 more times.

:)

I agree. He did deliver a national championship and some SEC championships over his years. The fact that he has slipped over the past several seasons is no reason to turn on him like a pack of wolves.

The fact is he needs to resign at the end of the season of his own accord. If not, he needs to be ordered to resign under the table so that he can retain dignity.

hahaha i like that recipe. i think its in a book somewhere. to those saying the money issue, you cant tell me if we get a coach that is charismatic, and a good leader, and can win, you cant tell me that we wont get the money comin in. the donors will put out more then jenna jameson

i truly believe the coach bleeds orange. he wants to win more than anybody. also he understands that you can't take the money to the grave but you can the legacy. anyone out there disagrees let him cast the first football. coach, do the right thing, at this point you are a hero, stay that way.

Depending on which anonymous Internet sources you choose to believe, the money men have spoken and the money is in place for the buyout. If this is true, the decision rests squarely on Hamilton, Peterson and the trustees.
