I’m not so sure. Depends. Barnes is already well compensated. UT has spent money and they have arguably the best locker room in the country. Great practice facility. I think the big thing might be assistants pay. The fact that Lanier would leave for such a low level job is concerning. Barnes was paying Oliver out of his own pocket. So, something ain’t right.UT needs to come up with a lot more money, asap, to convince rick to stay. It will take some huge dollars to beat UCLA.
I think there is a lot more to this than we think. This roster is left with a lot more marginal players than good or great. Plus, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Turners name pop up in the transfer portal.I think he stays, but he might be worried about next year if his team plays with Bone, Williams, Schofield, and Alexander gone (offensive production 56 points gone). I might even consider running out the back door.. he will stay because his family is nearby in North Carolina and long term recruiting should carry him even though he just lost his best recuiter/ assistant to Georgia State.
For one, no one can hear you because this is a message board. So one's ability to hear is irrelevant. Second, you don't know anymore than anyone else on this board. You don't know anything about Barnes and Fulmers relationship, things arent always what they appear on the surface. 2 grown men, with egos behind closed doors and you've got a different ball game. Reid Sigman was the highest ranking AD staffer there, I wouldn't count secretaries and equipment managers to prove a point.I will say this again for those with trouble hearing. There is no animosity nor hard feelings between Rick and Fulmer. It simply doesn’t exist but you guys have allowed Tony who doesn’t know anything to stir you up into believing so
Again, there were more UT athletic department staffers there then just that one
The roster is fine. We have a 5 star PG coming in. Still have 2 good SGs. We have Burns. J. Johnson will be a lot bigger contributor next season. Why the hell would Lemonte transfer?I think there is a lot more to this than we think. This roster is left with a lot more marginal players than good or great. If Grant stayed it gives Barnes another year, so maybe he knows something g we don’t yet.
Fulmer has his plate full trying find a LV coach to replace that dolt Warlick - which should have been done at least 3 years ago
CRB just does not seem like a " good fit" for UCLA, especially the left coast. He would face another rebuilding job and UCLA fans would not be as patient as UT fans were to watch him develop 3 star players over 3-4 years.
One disheartening thing to is is if he actually interviewed for the job. To me, there’s a big difference between “testing the waters” to get a raise (which he deserves), and actually interviewing for the job...which, to me, puts him in play.
and everyone cried for weeks about Fulmer fudging up the OC hire and bringing Tee here. We should probably give the man the opportunity to actually fudge something up before we hammer him. Even if he lets Barnes walk, it might be the best for the program in the long term, especially if we are talking the money that UCLA is supposedly throwing around.Sounds like Fulmer has already fudged this up, so who knows.
The fact is, everyone else has been chasing Tony for stories lately. He actually has a couple of very good sources right now. He most certainly broke the Chaney thing while everyone else was clueless. It hasn’t always been that way, but the old days of state run radio don’t play for a lot of these guys.Look, Basilio has been wrong about a lot. He's also been right about things. I'm willing to concede that he may be right about some of what he's reporting on this and wrong about others. I'm also of the belief that Barnes and Fulmer aren't "on the outs" like he's said. But he had it first that UCLA offered him and that Fulmer and Barnes were meeting.
He can be both wrong and right about things. Doesn't always have to be black and white.
yet they are having a hell of a hard time finding someone

I’m not counting any secretaries nor equipment managers. I know their relationship because I know of the people who know about their relationship. You don’t know what you’re talking about but have fun listening to Tony, it’s the blind leading the blindFor one, no one can hear you because this is a message board. Again, Barnes isn't worth the kind of money to Tennessee that UCLA is willing to offer if the $7-8 million/yr figure is correct. We can hire an equally competent coach with less of a name for half that amount. If UCLA is willing to pay that, I won't fault Barnes one bit for jumping.and everyone cried for weeks about Fulmer fudging up the OC hire and bringing Tee here.
