Rick Barnes has emerged as a serious candidate the for UCLA job, reportedly has interviewed

Im gonna go ahead and say it may be wishful thinking but unless UCLA's willing to double Rick's salary [and they might] I dont think he's leaving.

This has to be about assistants. Either he's pissed we didn't retain last year's staff or he's leveraging to get the best assistants possible. He'll only leave if he thinks we're not putting the resources in.

I don't know who Ben Bolch's source is... but I question his info. I don't think Barnes is leaving but I guess we will see soon enough. If an announcement of an extension with a raise isn't made in the next couple days? Then it's time to worry.
Barnes was just extended trough the 23-24 season and will be making 3.75 million a season by then.

It sounds like this is moving quickly.

Fulmer in in Tampa this weekend, Barnes either in Knoxville or Minneapolis, I’m sure it could be done by phone but wouldn’t Fulmer have to give UCLA permission to talk to Barnes?

Remember Fulmer wasn’t the AD that hired Barnes, I assume they have a great relationship but there’s always changes when the AD didn’t hire the coach.

Admiral is gone, possibly Bone and Williams, already one assistant coach is gone, maybe another this week. All of these voids are directly related to us having a good program.

I would be shocked if he left but I was shocked when we got him. I wish him the best of luck either way.

This might be the only way I would pull for a team in California.

I can believe that. Rick is at the stage of his career where I don't believe he's chasing a raise. Something really negative had to have taken place behind the scenes for this to pop out of nowhere.

This has to be the case. Only thing that makes sense.

Im in absolute shock. I've respected and loved Barnes for as long as I knew what basketball was. This is heartbreaking and I'm disappointed. I never thought Barnes would chase a paycheck. Deal is as good as done. Wow.
You are too easy, my friend. Rick is smarter than that.

Maybe he sees a window of opportunity at UCLA? Perhaps he really wants that national title and he knows his time as a coach is nearing an end? I would have to think the path is easier and quicker at UCLA than at UT. He might believe that Bone and Grant area also leaving and he faces a rather substantial rebuild. Toss in the fact that Lanier departed and I can see this happening.

Fulmer is gonna have his hands full with not one but two head coaching vacancies.

Deflection? How else do you respond to your idiotic claim that culture is simply changed in a year with 4 and 5 star recruits? You really take some bizarre stances in this forum. How does culture change with talent? Answer: it doesn't. My example: Kiffin's 4 and 5 stars didn't change Jack squat with regards to culture.
Basketball programs are easier to turn around with talent than football.

It’s not rocket science.

Comparing the two is asinine

I would put full court press on Greg Marshall.
There it is the hire Greg Marshall post. I bet his head is as big as a 55 gallon drum. Every season, every job his name is mentioned

Hmm!!! Ask yourself the last time UCLA won a NCAA title. Believe it was 1995 not exactly yesterday. In the meantime they seem to frequently change HC's!

And when’s the last time UT won a title or been in a Final Four?
