Rick Barnes has emerged as a serious candidate the for UCLA job, reportedly has interviewed

I have BVS as bad as anyone else does. No way Barnes leaves to go to UCLA. I truly believe he has fallen in love with the right shade of orange and will retire a VFL. Man just seems more at home and more comfortable in K-town.

Guys, this is ludicrus. No way Kiffin leaves here to go to USC. He named his son Knox
No way USC hires him. He is like # 11 on their potential candidates to hire. Jeff Fisher or Del Rio would get job before Kiffin
No way Dickey leaves UT to coach at Florida.

Lol @ everyone thinking there's any chance UT would go after a big name coach. The AD has publicly stated that bball is not a priority. Unless something has drastically changed, UT will not pony up the money for a big name coach.

UCLA doesn't have any basketball pedigree. Besides if they do hire him, we can bring in Holly.

Bring on the Bruce Pearl scuttlebutt!

When did they state that?😒

UCLA recruiting is literally effortless. You don’t even have to leave LA to do it. The window for a Title at UCLA is much wider than at UT.

Not saying I think he leaves but if his main driver is getting a title, UCLA offers the quickest and easier path.

Remember, he wasn’t brought to UT to win titles but to turn the program around.

At UCLA, winning titles would be first and foremost
You aren't addressing the point I made, which was changing and establishing a culture that not everyone will buy into, and the time and investment that takes. Not about recruiting.

UT doesn’t pony up for any sport.

Keep doing the same thing hoping for a better result. Nevermind the money that is generated for the University when sports are successful.

Which was said by no one ever. Kiffin had already served as an assistant at USC and Dickey was a Florida alum. I don't know what Barnes is going to do but he has no such ties to UCLA.

Kiffin is much more LA than Rick Barnes. Not sure your point holds water with respect to who Barnes is.

Easy to change culture in one year when your incoming class is made up of 4 and 5 stars.
Not far fetched considering Barnes’ ability to recruit big time players.

It is. Right after Dooley (I think) was fired. I vividly remember it.
Phillip Fulmer was obviously not the AD when Dooley was fired. Good lord... That would have been Dave Hart (but I do not believe that he ever said that either). After all, it was Dave Hart who hired Rick Barnes in the first place. Post a link to the quote if you know of one.

By AD, I meant athletic department. Perhaps it was Hart. Looking for link.

Rick Barnes is definitely a hall of fame coach.

I don't think he is. I believe Lefty Driesell is the only coach in 30+ years that has made the Naismith HoF without some kind of National Championship on his resume and it took almost 60 years after he coached his first game to get there. He retired with almost 100 more wins than Barnes and Driesell also played at Duke as a player which doesn't hurt his HoF overall resume. Driesell also won a ton of conference championships at his stops. Something like 20 total. Barnes has 4 total in his 32 years and only one post-season championship, the Big East title in 1994.

That said, there's a separate college basketball hall of fame that has more coaches and Barnes will likely end up there.
