People turning on Barnes need to ask: how many final fours did Ray Mears make? Bernard King? Dale Ellis? Allan Houston? Bruce Pearl while at Tennessee?

Barnes is doing a lot of great things and is already setting program records in just four years. He has us right on the verge of breaking into terroritory we’ve never been in and recruiting is going up.

Why bail on him now?

Makes no sense.

Exactly.

Probably many of the same people bailed on him the first two seasons he was here. He's building a program - not a flash in the pan. Tennessee has to be seen by more of the recruiting base as a place for elites to improve and work to get to the next level. Which is what CJP is also doing. Don't need bandwagons - need real fans who want to support and enjoy the journey.

Anyone actually "out" on CRB shouldn't even be responded to. That's one of those, "if you ask 100 people what color the sky is, some idiot's gonna say red" things. Don't validate the squeaky wheel.

Oh they pay their athletes. They'll just never get caught

You can't convince me that there's a single clean P5 school. Maybe there's an FBS school that operates by the textbook, but it's probably some crap 1-11 team.

Of course we all know the difference in going 10 over on the interstate and going 30 over in a school zone blaring NWA.

We all know NCAA compliance is a joke. Mizzou gets punished for a rogue tutor, but UNC gets off in their fake class scandal. Ohio State gets in trouble for tattoo-gate, but literally every football and bball player in a D1 school is tat-tatted as much as they prefer.

It seems that Avennati is trying to force their hand.

I don't mind what porn lawyer was trying to do. How he went about doing it was completely wrong though.

He’s saying Nike is paying players specifically Zion’s mom to go to Nike schools. Never said Duke paid anyone.

If he can prove it, they would vacate wins...

And nothing else

NCAA won’t look really deep

Yeah, the tourney is a tough measuring stick. Coach K has only been to 2 final fours in the last 15 years. I see it as a volume thing. You have to get there with good teams a bunch of times so that you have the number of chances necessary to catch breaks and get through it to a final four and a title. And nothing about Tennessee’s basketball history makes me think we are entitled to our share of final four appearances. Gotta go earn it. And we are on our way!

This guy is amazing:

The ‘Rocket Scientist QB’ returns: Shooting rockets with Josh Dobbs and Knoxville elementary school girls

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Five elementary school boys pressed their faces against the chain-link fence at Norwood Elementary in North Knoxville.

They knew the answer to their question, but they had to yell it in the direction of their nine girl classmates inside the school’s fenced-in field and playground.

“Is that Josh Dobbs?”

Annoyed, one of the nine girls wearing a bright red “Girls Inc.” shirt stared at the rocket in front of her and obliged him with an answer.

“Yes, it’s Josh Dobbs.”

Honestly I think Phil's LV hire is going to underwhelm the majority of fans. For one Holly was making less than 700k, granted she didn't exactly prove she was elite but there's quite a few other SEC teams paying their coaches over a million. Another reason I don't think he throws money at the job is the Men's assistant coaches that are leaving. Barnes has turned the program around and it's making money for the university whereas the Lady Vols are not, so Phil will invest more in getting Barnes the right assistants to keep that program profitable and that likely impacts how much he's willing to pay the new Lady Vol's hire.

Doesn't mean he doesn't pick a good coach, but the chance he pulls in a proven big time D1 winner are pretty slim.

Phillip's not going to be able to satisfy most LV fans. There's no Pat Summitt out there waiting to be offered. LV fans are clamoring for the superstars of the sport, there aren't many of them and they're happily establishing their own legacy programs at their current schools. So that means hiring a rising star and hoping we can catch lightning in a bottle again. There aren't that many rising stars, either, and they don't come with guarantees.

UT has allocated funds for the LVs hire, so the men's hires will be separate from that. I can't imagine anyone not appreciating what Rick Barnes has done at UT. UT is considering something similar for assistants on the women's side. Barnes has done an amazing job, but next year will be different. He built the program one way; now he's rebuilding it another. Factor in new starters and new assistants, and it will be interesting.

Truth, I'm actually amazed Barnes in just 4 years has won the SEC, had 2 NCAA bids, held #1 for a month and tied most school wins in a single season all with 0 five star recruits. Not to mention he's already made a Sweet Sixteen. I agree this season could be a challenge, I think it's going to really depend on how many juniors return. He's built the culture he wants in the players already, so losing assistants can be somewhat offset by having as many of those players there next year.

Honestly to me it's Peyton & Dobbs for favorite Vols all time and it's not even close. Both understood how important being good stewards away from the field was at UT and embraced it. I constantly hope he lands in Nashville as the #2 behind Marcus.

Yep, it's one reason I think Kara Lawson is a legit candidate with no experience. She could be the next Dawn Staley and if she is you'll get 3-4 years before having to put her at a million a year.

Kara isn't interested... but she's on the committee. If she changes her mind about coaching, she'd really need to be a lead assistant or a co-HC first. LVs HC is a big job, even for someone as great as Kara.

If you look at how many games in the Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight came down to the last minute - and many went to overtime - you can see that it is down to chance, with a smidgen of skill thrown in. The overall skills of these teams are so close that it does almost seem like a coin toss from the final 16 on.

Reasons for a transplant, include chronic kidney disease and upper stage diabetes. The waiting list prioritizes, making pancreatitis lower in comparison. At least if/until it progresses into one of these . So, no, at least not yet.

Plus, as listed in the disqualifications sections of most transplant facilities
Insurance doesn't want to pay until there is a more immediate threat to life or insulin and other medications costs surpass transplant costs. Money talks and it's highly unlikely that I can afford the sonic pulse procedure in SC. They already took all my monies😄

We can help....

There’re many many more real BasketVol fans than whiners

LV - wonder if we ever considered offering Coach Lanier...

We can help....

I understand @chargervol not wanting to ask but if our help could be the difference in helping him get a procedure that could save his life...

Not trying to be callous but @chargervol, would you rather us help now or your family possibly need help if things get worse? We all pray that they don't. You seem to have a lot of faith and fighting spirit but sometimes people come into your life because they are there to help you through something...don't disallow that from happening.

I feel like one of your concerns is that we help financially and the procedure doesn't work. Trust me when I say that the help would not have been wasted and we would be there to help again if something came along that might work. You are not a burden! Us all pitching in is not hurting any of us, even if it takes multiple tries. Knowing you are in pain hurts us far more!

Volnation is a family and at some point this family will intervene and find a way to give you the help you need so please just let it happen rather than fighting it.

Until then, prayers coming your way and know that you are respected and in all of our thoughts.
