I don’t buy that. Seems to me every team is making the exact same low year offer (you might call it collusion) and he’s not biting.
But I’m saying he may have a little more leverage over Atlanta because their need is much more pressing.
I didn't have a problem with signing Donaldson at the time because I still expected them to go after Realmuto, Grandal, Machado and or Harper.I was super high on AA when we hired him but I’ve lost a ton of faith. The Donaldson signing, the terrible bullpen since last year, the lack of balls to pull off a trade with our prospects, plus the Carter Stewart draft pick...(a farm he didn’t built). Taking O’Day contract to give up less prospects. And then keeping crappy players for too long because of “options”. It’s been a bad few months.
I disagree on 3rd being a position that we didnt need to upgrade. We needed and still do imo power, thats the bedt place to find a bat. Did he overpay for Donaldson a bit imo. But i would rather take a chance on a guy who coukd hit 40 homers than play another meh contact hitter everyday. Yes I know camargo has a good glove but if Donaldson gives us pop its worth it imo
Its kind of like Kimbrel I think teams have offered him but he is holding out to get the deal he wants. From what ive seen he wants min 3 years and most teams have offered 1 or 2I don’t buy that. Seems to me every team is making the exact same low year offer (you might call it collusion) and he’s not biting.

The sickening thing is that the $9 million is really beside the point. They saw a patchwork bullpen struggle last year and did zero to fix it.
