The way you attack zion is to make him play defense. He's prone to foul. He's quick as a cricket so posting him up is difficult though.

I support this. Get him vs Grant near the elbow. Grant will wait till that Zion palm is right above his arm then pull up real fast for a shot and get him a foul. He's a master at those.

The thing about the NCAA tournament, you have to play good teams (and under-rated teams) Colgate good at the three point, Cincinnati supposedly doesn't match well with us--they say-- (They also say Purdue is over rated, we'll see if we meet them) Then you have Virginia, North Carolina-- maybe Kentucky, Duke will probably be in the National Championship game. I watched Jimmy V 30/30 last night about North Carolina State run. Any team can get there with a good draw, playing at your highest level, and some luck. Fingers and toes crossed.

I have us meeting...Auburn again before Final 4. I was wearing orange glasses when filling out ze bracket. on paper we should destroy those jackals.

He's the biggest name out there. Eyes tune in to see him not UT. You really expect UT to get whistles on that stage? Against Zion? Who plays for blueblood Duke?

No doubt he'd get the benefit of the doubt with regards to the whistle. He's shown a propensity to foul this year. I think it's a strategy that could work.

The BB team just didn't play well vs. Bama. The defense kept leaving guys wide open for shots, and on offense we threw up some crazy looking shots. But we made plays when we had to.

We are going to run into teams that frankly are just more athletic than we are. We are well coached but that can only go so far. I see losses at LSU, at Ole Miss, at Auburn, and one of the two Kentucky games. In the meantime, I don't really care if we are #1 until the end of March Madness. JMO but wanted to write this down just in case it turns out to be true!

A smart guy I know made this prediction back in the middle of January. I missed on Ole Miss but we could have easily lost that game.

I guess I need to fill out a tournament bracket while I am on a roll.

I’m not expecting greatness at any position, but I am expecting improvement at almost every position.

That’s fine but it depends on your outlook. If you think the guys just can’t play then there won’t be much improvement. Everyone is constantly harping on the S/C being consistent now but i don’t think that’s gonna have THAT much of an impact on guys that have been here and make up the majority of our 2 deep.

I like our OL better than our LBs going into this year.

So who do you think can play in our 2 deep?

i think our OL and LB are siimilarly structured. some good players returning that provide some type of anchor as veterans and some really young, really good talent to infuse in to the line up.

i think both have potential to be good. won't know until they go play obviously.

if i had to pick one as who has the better chance to improve from last year, i'd say it's the OL....

LB is relatively thin, and while there's talent coming, it's really young.....aside from Taylor and Bituli, there's not a ton of production there. really need JJP to step up and any of the group of guys that have kind of been waiting in the wings.

if crouch or HT are good enough to beat guys out and be contributors now, so be it....

Does Zion get into foul trouble much? I haven’t watched a lot of Duke games. I find it difficult to imagine the refs fouling him out anytime between a S16 and national title game. Just bad for TV.

I'm keeping an ongoing updated 2-deep based on what I think could happen in week one. I'm just doing it for fun but am trying to keep up with the buzz. I'm assuming Solomon & Gibbs will be cleared to play (we should know in May). This is where I'm at and I think there are some positions in the depth chart still very much open. The only offensive guy yet to report which I think helps us this year is Wright. On defense of the guys yet to report I'm looking for immediate help from S. Williams, To'oto'o, and Harrison in the front 7 and hopeful we get some help from the other guys coming in for the backend. I wish I could include Middleton in front 7 group but I'm not confident he comes in ready to contribute right away. This is just my guess based on some of the buzz we hear and maybe some wishful thinking on my part. I think Morris and Wright will play from the get go but I think they both will have to unseat the veterans to claim the starting positions. All of this could change on a daily basis as we have 10 days of spring left and of course all of fall camp. jmo.

Facing each other across the LOS. (McCollough would be my STAR).

The biggest question I have this year is the Dline. I think the Oline and LB positions will be better than they have been in a number of years.

Would not bet on either Crouch or Peterson being starters.

Just because CJP is harping on the DL the first few practices doesn't mean we're absolutely doomed. I'm not expecting to be dominant by any stretch, but I don't think we'll be banana pudding either. Didn't CJP spend a lot of time with Bryce and Alontae last year?

I like our players at LB. We have a good mix of experience and talent, and I think the competition of Bituli, Reid, Ignont, Crouch, JJP, then HT, Roman, and maybe DKJr will separate the starting four by the time we face BYU.

Those two groups combined, though.. Front seven will still be shaky this season, at least into October.. :/

OL won't be "good" this year. Last year we had a TON of catastrophic plays. If we can cut down on those by half, we'll be in a much, much better situation this year. Turning 7-yard losses into 2-yard losses, and having enough push to where our RB's are at least only getting hit at the LOS instead of 3 yards in the backfield is going to alleviate a lot of pressure. Won't be good, but again, limits catastrophe.
