He could be a high 20’s to low 30’s points per game scorer but takes on other tasks to accommodate the team...specially their guards. Versatile team guy...won’t fit Barnes at all.I trust Barnes. No reason not to at this point. That said, I watched him play a couple of times this year at Bearden and he didn’t do much, honestly. Could’ve just had a couple of off games. Idk. I know he was nursing some sort of foot injury earlier in the season too. Not such how much that’s affecting him.
"Bowden, a three-star recruit, became the first men’s basketball player from Knox County to receive a scholarship at Tennessee as a freshman since Doug Roth (Karns High) in 1985."
That is absolutely stunning to me. With some of the teams Bearden, Fulton, and Austin-East have produced, I thought at least one other kid would have made it since then. Then again, something about Knoxville kids. Always seem undersized in all sports. Even the legendary soccer teams at Bearden and Farragut never seem to produce professional talent and rarely have 6 footers.
The games I saw him it wasn’t really an issue of being a team player or not. He just didn’t do much offensively, defensively or on the boards. I think it was shortly after the foot issue though and he hadn’t been starting so I’m guessing maybe the foot was still bothering him at that point. He could be a high 20’s to low 30’s points per game scorer but takes on other tasks to accommodate the team...specially their guards. And if you have seen him, what about his game leads you to believe he could score 30 a game? I hope he’s capable of that because high school basketball in this area isn’t exactly great. He could be a high 20’s to low 30’s points per game scorer but takes on other tasks to accommodate the team...specially their guards. Don’t see any games scheduled in Texas...so online highlight assessment from me. 6’10 kid that can move meets Mendenwald...Barnes 4 year glue guy.The games I saw him it wasn’t really an issue of being a team player or not. He may be a superstar here. Who knows. Barnes sees simething in him which means a lot. Was just passing along my thoughts from the two games I saw. Have you seen him play in person?
At 6-10 as a shooter he should score 30 a game around here. Wonder what he’s averaging? I wonder if any place show game by game numbers? I really don’t know what his numbers look like this year besides the games I went to and the info I saw from the tournament this week. Can shoot and he’s 6’10. 35 points per game if he’d played circa 80’s Chattanooga area.
