Lying to federal investigators is illegal, yes. It seems like the investigation is traveling on the theory that the first amendment prohibits prosecution for the actual collusion, but when asked as part of an official investigation, all these people lied about it, which is a crime.

They seem to be alleging that the collusion actually occurred as a means of proving that they lied about it.

No conspiracy. If there was a camera man there when the FBi jumped out they would have pushed him away in a normal operation. Why did they need 17 cars and 30 agents for Stone?
