God, that Haslam article on ESPN is so telling. You all need to read it and imagine that level of terrible leadership infecting our football program. Dude consistently plays people against each other, never lands on a consistent strategy, and ultimately, thinks he knows just as much about football as the career GMs and coaches he hires. We've got to get this family away from our program.

Someone hit me up with a link, please. I missed it.

Having butt sex with a monkey could go "viral" but at some point you have to have a little bit of self-respect while realizing that nothing on the internet can ever be undone. Their grandkids will still be laughing at that 30 years from now. It's like watching two midgets fight

Yeah IIRC Pruitt said last year a lot of guys were not buying in and doing things the right way. They ALL need to go. We need a complete culture change from the Butch era. I think we are on the right track now. Just need about 4 straight top 10 classes.

You don't need 4 straight top 10 classes....top 15 is just fine. We have had plenty talent but under Butch they were not developed whatsoever. Clemson does not sign top 10 classes every year...but Swinney and his staff do a great job of development. TAMU had plenty of top 10 classes under Sumlin, but we're not developed properly and he underachieved just like Butch. Gotta develop....that is the most important thing for Pruitt and staff.

Clemson does a really great job of identifying the players they want too. They issue the fewest offers of any school. They start lots of former 3*s, but they were guys the staff wanted. They have some really elite players, and those guys see to always pan out for them, but they seem to hit on almost everyone. They had tons of SO's playing in that championship game and that was the 3rd ranked class in the ACC.

How hard a team plays for a coach is usually a good indication of what kind of coach you have. When CBJ was first hired, the team played hard for him but you could tell after a couple seasons that the players did not give full effort much of the time. I can't say I blame them.

Good coaches understand that no matter how good the staff may be, teams need player leadership.

Barnes understands this. Grant Williams was a pivotal recruit because of his work ethic and leadership. Holding others accountable. BB teams needs at least one player leader. Leaders attract leaders. Josiah James fits that category.

Football teams need at least 6 or 7 of these type guys. Pruitt inherited a team devoid of leaders. Pruitt needs to find his Al Wilson’s, Billy Ratliff’s, Trey Teagues’ and Scott Wells’. Football teams don’t need all superstars, they need leaders on the field who hold teammates accountable.

Who would consider it a failure if this class is not top 10?
I don't think we can consider it a failure. Absolutely not. There were some mistakes made on some of the instate kids that we wanted late like Anderson and Logue, but for the most part, the reason we missed on some of the guys is because other schools had longer relationships with them than our staff did. That won't be the case going forward.

If we close with Wright, Henry, and Russell, we have met a lot of needs in this class. The only weak spot in this recruiting class would be DL in that case, and the transfer of Solomon helps there tremendously. If we count our transfers of Solomon and Gibbs, which some have said 247 sports will do, then we have a top 10 class for sure, if not top 5.

Further, one of the reasons why we will finish outside of the top 10 is that we are only going to sign 23 while other schools will sign the full allotment and in some cases even more. But our average will be around the 90 mark per player. That will be right there with a top 10 class and really, that average is most important. If you look at Clemson, they have not been in the top 10 every year because they haven't signed many full classes, but their average player ranking has been. We'll see that this year.

2020 though I expect us to be competing for a top 5 class.
