Amateur Hour Continues

MLK spent much of his time also preaching about how people should take personal responsibility ... I wonder how that little nugget slipped by without inspiring him ?

Good advice! When's the POTUS going to own this shutdown...the one that he expressly said he'd own?

Democrats are all about personal responsibility; which includes personal responsibilities for certain things regarding the society in which you are lucky enough to live.

I'll try to give you a simple example.
You get a job at a new company. It is your personal responsibility to learn the norms and expectations of the people you work for and with and act accordingly.

That completely contradicts your previous statement.

I guess same reason botox Nancy said he couldn't get the votes in the House
I don't follow.
Break it down for me as I'm attempting to do for Hogg on the personal/societal responsibility overlap.
Trump said he would gladly take responsibility for the shutdown. Now you're saying it's not his responsibility?
Why would Trump say he would gladly take responsibility?

No idea and don't really care. But fact is House passed a bill the President would sign, same bill needed about 10 democrat votes in the Senate. And minority leader in the Senate is who?

And the house and senate both supported bills the president wouldn't sign. Who controls the senate?

Not in the least. I think it just highlights your misunderstanding.

Yeah it does, you are being paid to learn the expectations and get along with co-workers so if you don't they simply fire you. I have no responsibility to "society" and yet I can't quit or get fired.

You can move. Choosing to live here and accepting the benefits are the same as continued employment. If you choose to work for a company, you are choosing to exist within their societal norms and expectations. If you choose to live within and among a society, your sense of personal responsibility should dictate that you are socially responsible (that you exist within their societal norms and expectations.)
Repubs. like to define personal responsibility as taking care of yourself and completely ignore the portions of personal responsibility that would be defined as taking care of society.
No biggie....I get it.....there wasn't a decades long effort to redefine greed as a good quality for no reason.

My only responsibility to to society is to not hurt others or take their property, I wish society felt the same way about the individual.

As far as I'm concerned the Democrats don't want and are unwilling to negotiate at all. I don't care who "owns" this shutdown, but I do know who isn't letting it end.

I would have been happy to blame the Republicans for not doing it when they had both houses. But now, I'm happy to just blame Honest Don, because he said he would take the blame..

One of the few times I agree with him.

You're missing one of the big points. The individual doesn't get to decide what their societal responsibilities are. (that's a biggie)

Let's assume someone decides it is their societal responsibility to take from the people with to much and give it to the people without enough.
Do they have the individual right to decide their own societal responsibilities? Of course not.

Blame away! Like I said, I don't care who owns it.
