He was a good plugger...till he wasn't. He was never dynamic, and he wasn't even in the same area code as a runner as Alvin Kamara. That is a absolute fact no matter what I said.
Kamara is a rare commodity. I really think Gray has that potential. Hybrid between Kamara and CP in my opinion.

No he wasn't. When is 3+ ypc awesome?...f'n never. He was alright as a plugger, but he didn't have any business getting 2/3 the touches. Kamara is a freakishly great runner, Hurd doesn't belong in the same conversation with him as a running talent. That's like comparing Otis Anderson, or Brandon Jacobs with Barry Sanders...it is stupid. And it was jyst a massive waste of elite RB talent...period.

Kamara isn’t a RB that should get 20+ carries a game all year. Hurd is our 2nd leading career rusher so don’t act like he’s a bum. He almost averaged 5ypc his first two years while being the bell cow.....He also had very good games against Florida, Georgia, and Vt his last year here.

No one is disputing that kamara is the better player especially now but they are totally different. We did the same thing the Saints are doing now with how they use mark ingram and kamara.

Nah Hurd was dynamic too. Not on Kamara’s level, but a better coach would’ve found ways to use both of them much better. His 2015 game against UF was great. Broke tons of tackles in space saved Debord’s ass on a lot of drives.

2nd, 4th, 5th 2 6th, and 7th round picks left. traded away the first for Kamara then traded 3rd for Bridgewater. Honestly don’t remember what we gave up for Apple, might have been the 4th.
What's Hurds projection in the draft? I could see him going mid to late. Do the Saints have more need in other areas to not take Hurd?

Hurd got 9 billion carries..his YPC is hooorrriid. It kept on dropping.

This is true, I know Hurd had uses, but my argument is AK should have gotten most of the run because he is the far greater talent.
With the group of RBs we had and Dobbs at QB, we shouldn’t have been giving any back 20+ carries a game. Hurd and Kamara should have been on the field at almost all times and both should’ve been used in the passing game a lot more.

Not sure about his projection, but saints need WR, DL, DB, LB and maybe a TE and QB IMO.

Edit: And OL because Andrus Peat is a walking penalty.

And in retrospect, can you really blame Hurd for what he did? Dude played hard every snap prior to 16' season.. was promised a certain play style by Botch and Botch didnt deliver.

Yes you can blame him.

I don't blame him for leaving but I do blame him for quitting in the middle of the seaon.

Those kids that leave after 4 games now I hate it but it at least benefits them while Hurd received no benefit for leaving

He’s a career 4.5ypc guy.
Just for some reference....
Arian Foster is 4.6 at UT
Montario hardesty 4.3.

Hurd was good. Idk why you’re saying he wasn’t a good player lol. He is also one of the best RBs in pass protection we’ve ever had here
