Anyone see Gus pulling out all the stops to save his job? Offered Derricks Browns brother who is unrated and had not major offers which is telling considering his brother is a star so you know people have look into him. Few days later Derrick says he is coming back. You know that had to be part of the deal to get him back. Dumb for him because he would be a top pick but I understand he wants his brother to get a shot

Chaney head-co-OC. Tee and Friend co-assistant-OCs?

If it was me as HC my offensive staff with Tee/Chaney hires would be as below.

OC/QB - Chaney
RB/co-OC/PGC - Tee
OL/RGC - Friend (not sure he cares about a co-OC title)
WR - DJ
TE - Nieds

That'd be a very good group of recruiters too, and the reason why I let Tee coach RBs is simple, it gives him another notch and helps further groom him to be a better OC.

Remove the Co-OC /PGC and Im down with that.

Agree with @LA Vol, would love to have Sark here for long term, but It sounds like he will bolt at the first decent nfl opportunity he has. Chaney you could atleast keep around. He’s good, just not a sexy, splash hire like most want.

I don't understand how it's mentioned Chaney was unhappy about being Co-OC at UGA, but he's going to come here and be a Co-OC?

I think Chaney is most definitely a splash hire

I am fine with all the names being thrown around, seems like someone will be named soon. I want Tee here, but he definitely needs help. He didn't get fired at USC for no reason.

Two years of Sark, then theoretically hand it over to Tee.

That’ll work.

What UT needs and what Fulmer wants is stability. The more new guys brought in, the higher the risk of conflict. And the last thing UT needs is more coaching searches next year. So anybody brought in will be expected to stick.
Thats whats intriguing about the difference between Chaney and Sark. I firmly believe the only reason Chaney was not here longer the first time was UT got to their 3rd HC during his time here. Sark is more likely to be gone after a couple years than Chaney if Pruitt makes it 5+ years.

Tee is the interesting one in regards to stability. Im sure Pruitt and Fulmer would both like to have him on staff from a recruiting standpoint alone and i think he's a good position coach. But how long before he tests the OC waters again.

IF Sark comes to TN as OC then it's because he doesn't have NFL options he supposedly seeks. So in all likelihood if he comes back to college his next step would be college HC. That would take at least 2 years at TN imo for it to happen.

I could also see Friend or Nieds doing RBs and letting Tee have QBs...if that's a hangup. I'd be fine with just adding Chaney and keeping the rest of the staff as is, felt like our biggest offensive woes were lesser OL play (which to me is more about attrition and not having the talent as deep) and Helton's shortcomings as a play caller. Felt like the WRs and RBs did fine, with better blocking they would have had even better numbers. TEs probably didn't produce as much as we'd like, but also were limited because they had to block more to try and help the OL.

I think Tee or Chaney coaching QBs is an upgrade over Helton as well.
