well, they don't. but the only thing that all the different media outlets have reported that's the same is that we're not hiring from within. it's been reported multiple times that Friend doesn't even want the job. They also admit that they don’t really know what is going on and the staff is not leaking information
The Tim Tebow teams that he stepped over to get this run going, were more physically talented. As was the LSU team Bama obliterated in that rematch title game. I’m sure there are several other examples, but he built a beast so quickly it’s hard to tell.Is Saban really that good of a coach? I'd have far more respect for his accomplishments on the field if he were beating more talented teams, but there are none. Given the talent advantage, he *should* be winning at that level. Unfortunately we'll probably never see the day when his team is playing equal or greater talent.
Now he is absolutely the GOAT at program building, player development, and recruiting. No contest there.
yeah, i mean if you're looking for fit/chemistry/trust............i would imagine Friend is probably at the top of that list. so if it was going to be a promotion, it would have happened a long time ago.Hes a quick and easy hire if that's what he and Pruitt both wanted from the day after Helton officially left.
We’re not promoting from within.
So the speculation as to why you dont take an hour to ink it and announce it would be?I want to believe but that is nothing more than speculation. Pruitt has never stated that he wouldn’t promote from within and he is clearly in no hurry to make a hire which suggests that he has already made one. If it were anyone outside of UT it would have already leaked
i think Weinke would be the odd man out at that point unless they moved one of the defensive coaches, we do have two DB and two LB coaches....but assume it's Weinke, that puts Friend/Nieds as rb's/te's coaches, and you pubt Chaney back in charge of the QB's, PIttman on OL.Would be a shuffle. Hes not letting Friend go.
Wouldnt be surprised if someone else moves on.
Your assumption is incorrect which leads to your faulty determination.I want to believe but that is nothing more than speculation. Pruitt has never stated that he wouldn’t promote from within and he is clearly in no hurry to make a hire which suggests that he has already made one. If it were anyone outside of UT it would have already leaked
If you can add Pittman you do it yesterday.i think Weinke would be the odd man out at that point unless they moved one of the defensive coaches, we do have two DB and two LB coaches....but assume it's Weinke, that puts Friend/Nieds as rb's/te's coaches, and you pubt Chaney back in charge of the QB's, PIttman on OL.
i think Friend is a better recruiter than we might give credit. and if he doesn't want the OC job, you'd think he'd be ok with a position change, if it's for the betterment of the program.
**just speculating**
lol.
Which are all components of a HC...most important, really. You got nerds with schemes who post on here and they ain’t done ****! Chip Kelly can clog a chalkboard and he sucks now!Is Saban really that good of a coach? yeah, that he's the best at that is what makes him the best.Which are all components of a HC...most important, really. You got nerds with schemes who post on here and they ain’t done ****! Chip Kelly can clog a chalkboard and he sucks now!![]()
Plus it's been reported that Friend has no interest in being an actual OC.
