Trump vs Pelosi and Schumer

Yes.

Was there a more predictable flip flop in the universe than Trump going from "I won't blame you" to "actually, I blame you."

I don't care how long the shutdown lasts.

It just shows how hyper partisan and hypocritical the Senate democrats are by refusing to negotiate with the president.

No border wall funding, no deal.

This will bite them in the ass big time.
You can say “trump took credit “ all you want and you’d be right. He said it. But that doesn’t mean it’s true. Trump also said Mexico would pay for the wall and he was a type of Messiah. Neither of those are true either.

Dems had a little momentum. Trump saying a shutdown that nobody will really remember “is on me” will not resonate much with voters. The fact that we could have had DOCA and immigration reform if the Democrats would have compromised on the wall/fence will stick. Some of us former democrats have long memories. We remember that the wall/fence has always been part of the plan back to Clinton. Shumer said it was a must and Obama funded it. But now trump wants it finished and the Democrats said no costing them everything else they’ve ever wanted. For what? We were at the finish like and they quit.
We about had everything we wanted and they stopped it. A reformed immigration policy. Path to citizenship. Border security. Everything we believed since the 90s was Within our grasp and we shut down the government for no reason other than we didn’t want Trump finishing our wall.

I looked up that Alinsky guy Have to admit, I kind of like him. (based on the little that I read.)

This caught my eye.
Alinsky described his plans for 1972 to begin to organize the white middle-class across the United States, and the necessity of that project. He believed that many Americans were living in frustration and despair, worried about their future, and ripe for a turn to radical social change, to become politically active citizens. He feared the middle class could be driven to a right-wing viewpoint, "making them ripe for the plucking by some guy on horseback promising a return to the vanished verities of yesterday".

Has Trump done anything about the shutdown in the last week other than tweet?

Aside from the optics, has there been any point to him staying in DC?

What????

There HAVE been such compromises before. Trump, Schumer, McConnell, Ryan. All agreed. It was right there....

Then the Freedom Caucus raised holy heck with Trump and he reneged on the deal in one day. Now its wall, only.

That's why it's not passing.

A fence or wall is much like a old ship. If it has enough holes and not enough manpower to get the water out, it’s gonna sink.

Build the damn wall.

And they should have caved on the wall/fence.

Actually they should have caved on the fence and would have been able to say “he didn’t get his wall.

And all that doesn’t really matter. My point is what and how it will be remembered by the average person

You're right. Trump is counting on his base to either forget or just ignore the facts. It's been a winning strategy for him so far.

It’s not just his base. It’s the people in the middle. You and your side think Trump is this awful thing. And he is but the average person thinks it’s ssdd. This next election is going to be interesting. If the Dims don’t run someone completely new then he’s likely re-elected imo.

Like I said, it’ll be interesting

Mostly optics. But Democrats will be squealing either way.

Clearly there would be more squealing if he was golfing every day, but as far as I see he hasn't done anything in the last week that required him to be in the White House. Whatever.

You should send him a tweet or write him and letter to let him know how you feel.

I noticed that Romney fired his first shot of the 2020 campaign today at Trump. I guess that a-hole thinks he will take over the party if they get Trump out. Well Mitt, I will sit the next one out if you are the Republican nominee.

Never mind. I totally misread your post.
