I’d like to see College Football work like this...

Eight 16 team conferences. Each with two 8 team divisions. Require Notre Dame and service academies to join a conference in order to be eligible to play for championship. All conferences have a championship game between the two division winners.

11 regular season games: play all 7 division opponents, 1 or 2 interdivision games, 2 or 3 out of conference games.

All 8 conference champs are seeded according to strength of schedule in the championship bracket.

That would be 7 very meaningful bowls, and all other bowls consolation. The college football set up has not devalued any of the other bowls (although the case could be made for the Rose Bowl since they’re no longer guaranteed to have Big 10 champ vs. PAC 12 Champ, but that actually goes back to the start of BCS in ‘98), if anything, it has increased the value of the 2 that serve as semifinals.

Until college ball does something like the pros do with drafts or salary caps to level out the talent, it will continue to be dominated by a small number of teams. Bama gets the first 25 picks and has no salary cap. Hard to compete with that.

And to be clear, I have no clue what that 'something' would or should be, but it isn't improving any time soon.

Best point I have seen against expansion. I have been for it but this really is a great point against it.
Every game doesn't matter if you schedule one or 2 against the fcs though so its really not a great point. There's so many boring regular season games every year.

Gary Patterson made a pretty good point on the coaches show. It's so either they get it or bama has a short field and can't run the clock out.
I thought that was an extra benefit but didn't think they were actually doing it on purpose.

And Dooley didn’t? Cmon man
Didn't for me. I thought as long as we could get a good coach we could be okay. Then they hired Butch..... Then we desperately had to get a coach thst could recruit good players quickly plus repair a devasted roster while GA was creating a monster to compare with AL. Plus the boosters wete fed up with the way the program was being run.

Seemed like everyone knew what it takes to get on the elite level, but admin. Smh

So going into last years search you thought we were screwed even if we did get a good coach?

Not being a smartass, I’m genuinely asking bcuz you disagreed and then said you felt we’d be ok after Dooley if we hired a good coach.

Yep,, shift in minset. Not enough kids that have that Morris attitude - "I want to be part of building something".
Now, it's just take the Bama incentives and keep the machine rolling.

Talent is everything. Saban is possibly the greatest but I've never seen anything like this.
Relationships with Bama's other coaches? Nah, they move on too fast.

Recruits top 3 breakdowns now - "Alabama?, What can you say, it's Alabama."

Constant staff turnover, with zero continuity. Yet they're so stacked with talent, they just roll along like nothing happened. It's unprecedented, even by previous dynasties.

*Must find a way to fight the Borg. 😂

*IF we had some kind of gentlemen's agreement with him and oSu swoops in and grabs him because we didn't get a real contract, I'ma gonna be pissed.

No contract allowed Felton to recruit after Helton left. A contract with someone would mean that we couldn't use that recruiting slot for someone else, as I understand it.

In any case, we still don't know what's been going on behind the curtain.

The plan is already in place.
