Devo182 posted this in the FF.

A rather depressing stat:

130th out of 130 teams by OL Stuff Rate - "the percentage of carries by running backs that are stopped at or before the line of scrimmage"

2018 NCAA OFFENSIVE LINE STATS | Football Outsiders

Until the problems with our OL are rectified, we'll not see improvement in the win column.

I like how Pruitts words were taken out of context. He said that in recruiting an OC is sometimes overrated because the players commit to the Head Coach. They don’t commit to an OC who could be gone in a year or two.

That being said some players do commit to an OC or a QB coach because of how well they did at other places. But, this is definitely taking his words out of context.

Yeah, those article titles are terrible. Saying something is overrated doesn't mean it's not important, people may just be placing more importance on it than it warrants. And your point on context is right as his statement was limited to recruiting.

The 'overrated' and 'underrated' statements are some of the most frequently misused in sports. To establish something is overrated you have to establish how important or good something or someone actually is, who's rating it / them, how they're rating it / them, and then you can compare the ratings. Saying something is 'overrated' outside of all that context is fairly meaningless.

I haven't really seen this mentioned but, Pruitt might be a King Fu master at distracting this fanbase.

He weathered the first couple of weeks of the OC search like a salty old vet who just doesn't GAF, lulled the fanbase into submission by distracting them with talk of early signing day, and then unified the fanbase, like he'd just beaten an SEC rival on the road, by signing a few blue chip recruits, culminated by saying "y'all don't sorry about this OC, they're overrated, I got this sh*t..."

I think Pruitt might be a genius...

Your account of his quotes are much worse than the article.

His quotes were saying that jimmys and the joes make the OC job less important. Now did he mean that literally or not I don't know but he in no way said it in the way you characterize it in your post here.

The day after all previous days bowl games are finished and there is no announcement made the list gets smaller and smaller. After yesterday, guys like Andy Ludwig from Vandy and Zac Roper from Duke fall off. The good thing is that as this keeps going it points to a guy from either a New Years day 6 team, college playoff team or the NFL.

You know what makes me feel old? Taking one sip of coffee and having to use the bathroom

Taking care of business first thing in the morning, every morning, is the best perk of being a regular coffee drinker. Never have to deal with public toilets anymore unless I eat some bad Mexican food or something.

Yurcich- don't want at all
The Yurcich hire is good at first thought but when you look at it more it doesn’t make sense. We don’t really have the personnel to run that offense and we aren’t recruiting the players to run it. We aren’t recruiting a bunch of smaller, faster receivers and don’t have any on the team for example.

It also doesn’t seem like a philosophy match in terms of what Pruitt wants. Hope we find someone else
