Ubben didn’t paint a pretty picture of the OC hire on the radio the other day. But I don’t think he knows anything. I think 3 people in the world know what’s up there, Pruitt and Fulmer and the guy they’re planning to hire (if he exists). Is it Yurcich or an NFL guy? I refuse to believe that Pruitt doesn’t know or doesn’t have a plan.

Pruitt did the right thing and went full bore into ESD. We have witnessed the fruits of his labor the past couple days. I think we know by NYD who the OC is. I'm still hoping for Sarkisian or Yurcich. Sark's last game with Atlanta is on 12/30. Yurcich's bowl game with Okie State is 12/31.

Yurcich- Oklahoma State, waiting to leave until after the bowl game? Plus: He gets a bowl bonus, completes a season, a sense of loyalty. Cons: Why wait? Recruiting the signing class for Okie State then bailing on them is not a positive look.

Sarkisian- Falcons, possibly fired from position. Plus: Proven college coach, good offensive mind, knows how to coach QBs. With being a former Head Coach it could be good for Pruitt. Cons: Personal demons. Could only be at UT a year or two before bolting to a Head Coaching position (which could be a positive) A west coast coach primarily.

Jim Bob Cooter- Lions, possibly fired from position. Plus: UT grad, good offensive mind, would seem to be positive with QBs. Cons: Besides being a grad assistant, I'm not sure if he coached in college or just in the Pros.

Jeremy Bates- Jets, possibly fired from position. Plus: See above with Jim Bob Cons: See above with Jim Bob


Anyone else with worth mentioning?

In one season with Briles in charge of the offense, the Cougars ranked among the most explosive in FBS, averaging 43.9 points and 512 yards. He was credited with the development of junior quarterback D'Eriq King, who was responsible for 50 touchdowns before suffering a knee injury Nov. 15 against Tulane.

With Clayton Tune making his second career start, the Cougars were held to a season-low 14 points and 317 yards in a 70-14 loss to Army in the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl.

A person with knowledge of the process said Briles is expected to take Clements and two graduate assistants with him to Florida State.


As the Cougars begin the offseason, Applewhite must now replace both coordinators. Defensive coordinator Mark D'Onofrio was fired at the end of the regular season.

Sorry for this interruption but I just saw the trailer for the new season for Blacklist! Coming on Jan 3 two hour event!! WOOOHOO!

Ok back to wondering when we are going to get our new OC.
