Ahhh.... My biggest fear is a comment that Pruitt made today. He said the OC position isn't really that important because it's the head coaches offensive theory is all that matters. I hope that doesn't mean what I think it means.
I think he was saying it doesn’t matter if you get the best players. Look at Bama, they lose an OC every year. He wants players more than an OC

Clemson recruiting is the sweet spot. They keep kids on campus and develop them. This is the first big class they’ve taken in a while. Usually they sign smaller classes of mainly elite players.

I personally would rather see this coaching staff get the most out of the guys on campus than seeing the “mass exodus” others hope for. 2017 class sucked but I still think Murphy, D. Johnson, Ignot, and maybe Calbert can be serviceable players

Classes with lots of OL are usually not highly rated. If we land crouch, wright, and RB and the LB...we good. i say go after LB/DE/DL somewhurr.

I don’t think he said it exactly like that. Pretty sure he said OC isn’t that important because guys commit to play for the HC.

Agree. LB is in rough shape. Gotta find a way to add Russell, crouch, and hold on to Henry and it’ll be better. Probably need to find 1-2 more since Henry is likely to leave.

I think there's probably some specific people that need to a better job recruiting. And some tweaking of some overall strategy.

Obviously I don't know what their board looks like. But I think if you get to the last weekend and you're reaching for positions of need like we were, something went sideways.

How did we not get Noah Cain on campus before now? How did we get that far in to bogles recruitment without accounting for the family tie issue? Was that time spent what maybe cost us eboigbe?

Siap regarding Brown and Anderson, and how they were handled.

Any way just some thoughts. I don't think it's the type of players we target. Had a lot more to do with "the how".

And obviously we have some really good recruiters... But they all need to be on the same page if they're going to get better results across the board.

I think CJP touched on this in his press conference by saying that they would look at quality control to see who signed for what reason and who didn't sign and why.
I’m wondering how successful Rocker is at recruiting. We’re struggling at his position. Sherrer also. Linebackers say they like him, but they’re not lining up to play for him. Not sure what’s going on there

Wasn't able to check in today. Jumped through the last pages after reading the commit thread that Freak set up.

My hot take: Pruitt isn't as great of a recruiter (as many of us hoped) without the backing of a NC-ready program (and a great head coach). Dude has power but he swings for the fences on every at bat. Unfortunately he bats a .237 and his on base percentage is .253.

Still waiting to see that he has the capacity for strategy, i.e. having a plan B and C when the coveted commit doesn't commit. Not sure that recruiting has the equivalent of an onside kick. If it did, I'd expect that we'd see it between now and February.
It's funny reading this after all the posts about Butch not swinging for the fence. It's not like he didn't get several homeruns and doesn't have anymore coming up. It just didn't happen today.
