And that’s incorrect. You can designate anyone you want to be an on the road recruiter. Hiring an OC has no bearing on that.

If we wanted to, right now, we could pull Jeremy Pruitt off the recruiting roll and put Tino Sunseri on there. It wouldn’t mean we’d have to fire Jeremy Pruitt.

I think he brought 3 big time players with him when he took the Arkansas OC position. It all fell apart when Nutt didn't let him run his offense after he was hired.

Agree. One note, DM has been consistent on his statements whereas Hubbs and Brice have changed directions throughout the past two weeks.

Maybe it’s the other way around and the OC feels he needs to finish his season with his current team and doesn’t want his hiring being a distraction before the season/playoffs etc are done.

As part of the new deal, Briles would not owe a buyout if he resigns and accepts a college head coaching job following UH's last 2019 regular season game or the 2019 American Athletic Conference championship game if UH is a participant. If Briles leaves prior to those dates, the buyout would be at the discretion of the school's vice president of intercollegiate athletics but not more than 50 percent of the remaining base salary.

Briles would owe 25 percent of his remaining base salary if he resigns to accept a position as a play-calling offensive coordinator after the final regular season game or league title game. A similar move to a Power Five conference school prior to those dates would be at the discretion of UH, but not to exceed 50 percent of the remaining base salary.

My question to you is do you think Pruitt is adapting his previous offensive philosophy stance given the candidates he is looking at?
From another post you made it sound like Pruitt had an air it out guy in Helton already. What would be the difference with a guy like Yurcich or others? Just personality fit?

Pruitt’s looking to change it up. Helton wanted to open up the offense and passing game, so their philosophical disconnect could have been bridged. Both seemed to want to move on, though, and sometimes, that’s best. Everybody gets a clean slate.

I think Pruitt has been talking to a lot of offensive guys, getting different takes on how the offense can evolve as seamlessly as possible. Saban and Fulmer like to pick people’s brains, so Pruitt probably sees value in doing that. Scheme is important, but IMO, trust is the driver. UT is going to have to hire the guy that Pruitt thinks is the right fit for what he wants to do and the staff he already has in place. It's the quickest path to winning.

I doubt Matthew's is running with anything not coming from or backed up by Phil. The other 3 are well connected in varying ways across campus.

Its obvious that information is very limited and has become speculation in some cases. They re all getting questions they don't have much to answer with.

Pruitt doesn't come across as the type trying to appease those worried about the timing. Im good with that. He could have made a good or bad hire in 2 days and had it announced. He can also make a good or bad hire in a month. Until they announce a hire and works here you're not gonna know which.

I have a sneaky suspicion that Tulsa would beat Tennessee right now and we're gonna get our shot with UAB next year. We are nowhere near a powerhouse anymore. Only in our minds.

SO we should just tear Neyland down and get us about a 50K capacity stadium on the level with UAB and Tulsa. Hiring unqualified coaches is exactly why we are in the situation we are now. If we're striving to be a Tulsa or a UAB we need to adjust our ticket prices and act like a Tulsa or UAB.

IMO, it's down to Yurcich, Chaney, or Chip Long with Propst being an extreme long shot. Propst couldn't be announced before because you can't be hired as a NCAA coach and still finish out a HS season. Chaney's contract likely doesnt end until the bowl game finishes, and we may be trying to avoid having to pay a buyout. Chip is in the playoff and may have incentives that are important to him (maybe loyalty to the coach). I can't pinpoint a reason for the delay with Yurcich other than negotiations being ongoing. I still think Chaney makes the most sense in regard to fit, but he'd have to hate working for Smart or fall in love with extra money we'd offer him, to come here. I don't know much about Chip Long, but if he was on Bama's radar last year, I'm sure he's on Pruitt's.

He's sharing ideas with different offensive minds in CFB. IMO he has a guy that he wants. But is unable to do anything until the season ends.
