I think looking at Butch's top 5 classes and trying to compare them to Pruitt's class this year is stupid, how many 4-5 star guys did Butch recruit that he either ran off or never panned out?
Preston Williams 5 star- Transferred
Jalen Hurd 5 star- Transferred
Vic Wharton 4 star and a legacy- Transferred
Daniel Helm 4 star- Transferred

I could go on and on. My point is, if you take out all the guys that transferred from those classes, they are not a top 5 class.

He still got them here. And every player you just listed went on to have good or great college careers. Being a good recruiter is not the same as a good player developer/manager.

I also still have concerns about Pruitt’s temper. Running down players to a reporter at halftime rubs me the wrong way. I can’t help but wonder if that kind of attitude doesn’t have an effect on the decision to roll over against Missouri and Vanderbilt.
He is their coach, life isn't rainbows, unicorns and participation trophies. This group of quitters needs to be weeded out. If words to a reporter caused a few to quit then they are weak minded and need to go.

If it's Probst, I hope Fulmer is shopping right now for the next head coach.
Seriously? The same Probst who mentored coaches that are have become successful position coaches/coordinators at the college level and the same Probst who develops college-ready talent consistently in one of the most competitive High School areas in the country? I am not a fan of Coach Probst, but had he done a better job with his personal life a decade or so ago, he would have been an SEC coordinator long ago. But you with your vast array of knowledge KNOW that he couldn't possibly succeed. WOW

My feeling is it’s going to end up being someone we don’t know about yet. A college OC or assistant that we’ve interviewed but that the media doesn’t know we’ve interviewed.

My bet is it is certainly someone we haven't heard about on anybody's "list." It will be out of left field except for one poster who weeks ago randomly said hey how about "?" and that person will be hero for just one day.

I wouldn’t have a huge problem with Propst as OC. Most coaches are glorified gym teachers and we’ve seen high school coaches make the jump and be successful. My biggest concern would be QB development. I would want Pruitt to shake the staff up and hire proven QB coach.

The same Probst that has never had a college coaching job? The same Probst that has never called a play at the college level? The same Probst that has never schemed against a college DC?

Tennessee is not the training ground for coaches, or at least it shouldn't be. You would think people would have learned that by now. Our last two offensive coordinators have been experiments that had little to no experience calling plays. The definition of insanity is doing something over and over and expecting different results.

u can say alot about Probst, but ask anyone who has ever coached against him and they will say he is an elite gameday coach, planner. Alot of coaches have a plan but when it doesnt work they fail. Probst is a halftime adjustment King, and isnt afraid to change something up in real time. He would have been Malzahn 20 years ago if he'd have kept his personal life together

Chad Morris went to Tulsa and Malzahn to Arkansas straight from HS. Morris had a top 5 offense right away I believe.

Why is Weinke coaching running backs? Wouldn't he be an obvious QB coach and we just need to find an OC.

So are we equating Tulsa to Tennessee? Tulsa, UAB, Alcorn State, West Texas tech, this are schools you go earn your stripes, not Tennessee.

yeah its doable, highly unlikely we hire him tho if we passed on Briles due to perceived character issues

Not my point there Skippy. The point is you don't KNOW how he would do. If you're so sure, mortgage your house and go to Vegas.
