This post is 100% pure gold and should be stickied at the top of every OC thread. NOBODY on here knows crap @ this hire. The blogs and reporters etc don't even care if they are accurate any more. Yet people keep slurping up their "emissions"and acting like they know something is wrong or right. It blows my mind how easy people are to brainwash and control.

Yet the same reporters can name the new coach or oc candidate for a rival school with 90~95% accuracy in a couple of days.

it's funny how people always lock in on one guy as if he's the only guy in the world who can save us. Hugh Freeze isn't walking through the door..... or any other Power 5 door.

Freeze was an option; took a job at LIBERTY?? Briles was an option, took the job at FSU, Jim Lebby was an option, not no more...this AD consistently from time and time again always goes the cheap bottom of the barrel route. Have you watched the last ten years my friend

You're crazy if you think Freeze was a viable candidate.... but ended up at Liberty. No way Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn, FSU, Kansas, Maryland, USC etc all pass on the guy unless they have to.

Freeze was never a real option.
Briles hasnt been announced yet.
And we paid our last OC 1.2 million, sounds cheap to me.

Freeze signed for half of what we were paying our OC last year right? I wouldn't say cheap is the right word.

I would really like some facts to back up this statement. Friend's OLs at CSU produced a rushing offense that was in the top 35 all three years he was at CSU. They were 74th the year before he got there and 124th this year. Tell me how you prove he is a terrible OL coach / terrible OC. Yes, I know it is CSU. Yes, I know it is the Moutain West Conference. But, he had 2 star talent for the most part. I am not saying I want Friend as OC. I DON'T!!! But, I think he will prove he is a pretty good OL coach when UT gets a bunch of LEGIT 4 star offensive lineman on the roster. The OL will look much different. You do realize that UT only had 4/5 SEC caliber OL before Kennedy and Smith were sidelined. Don't you? You do realize that UT had 5/6 OL total for spring practice. You do realize that several DIDN'T BUY INTO THE PROGRAM this season. Several players have said as much. How do you explain rushing for more than 200 yards vs UK with a terrible OL and terrible OL coach? Most players and the OL made strides this season before SEVERAL GAVE UP TOTATLLY in the second quarter of the Mizz game!!! Pruitt can't make the players want it. He has to recruit players that want it!!! Please note, I take Sam Pittman as our OL Coach every day of the week and probably several others over Friend. But, I think Friend will end up being one of the better OL coaches in the SEC in a few years.

For you to say that Pruitt thinks he is Saban is asinine! You don't know the man. If you are saying he has a moxy no nonsense demeanor about him like Saban, I would agree. Don't we want a coach with TONS OF CONFIDENCE IN HIS ABILITY? I understand that we as fans have been through a bunch of heartache for 10 years and it is easy to be negative. But, your statements above or beyond ridiculous. Back them up with some FACTS to be taken seriously. Let's revisit your post at the end of 2020. You will be eating crow!!!

Oh, cool. I will be eating crow in *squints* 2 more years. And which is it: Friend can whip 2 star players into Top 40 rushing attacks or he can’t get 4 and 5 star players to buy in?

As for Pruitt, he has much to prove. He lost 6 games by more than 25 points this season. Hell Butch didn’t do that. He may end up being a great hire, but right now he can’t even manage to hire a staff member. Maybe do that and I’ll think about how much crow I’ll eat in 2020.

Time and patience are relative. Comparing a retirement plan to hiring a coach before a deadline like they are on the same scale of time and complexity is retarded.

But anyway, So you're saying you had a good plan, and it didn't take nearly as long(relatively) because of that?

I agree.
After Jimmy was so fond of Schiano at the Browns, I'm sure he (or somebody) influenced the AD to give Schiano a shot, after they had backed Currie also.
But that's normal, quid pro quo, in business and politics.
But nothing since, as far as football or AD, has suggested any kind of interference.

Now, they're just scapegoats whenever we have any trouble.
