I think you are 100% correct. Rumors circulated that the hire was "still" coaching (Chaney) and we weren't going to announce. That was the funniest of all. I'm sure we were going keep this a secret while he coached UGA until January. Bottom line is no one wants the job and we weren't aggressive enough in hiring. Pruitt knew for weeks that Helton was gone, but he didn't feel the urge "vet" candidates in those weeks. What a joke?

As frustrating as it is for fans, this hire is more important than a potential bump for this NSD. Although I think the effects of the OC on this cycle are being exaggerated by fans.

Missing a recruit or two stings now, missing this hire costs him his job in 2 years.
Having doubts he is here in 2 years anyway

Both points can be true honestly. But of all the people Yurcich has the best set up where he currently is. He’s making 800k, has full control, and OK state OC has historically been a fast track to a head coaching position.
Well so far that fast track got him an interview at Akron to make about what Terry Fair makes coaching DB’s in the SEC.

You can’t turn down a job you aren’t offered.

I agree with you about this process being a disaster. It would’ve been reported already if any of those guys had a legit offer and turned it down.

Wouldn’t consider Helton a whiff. Also, why is Helton leaving a blow to Pruitt as a HC?

Sounds like you believe everything you read on the internet.

He’s restarting with an offense that could be very different personnel wise. He had a bad year thankfully, he has Bailey in ‘20
