What are your thoughts on Joe Osovet? He obviously made a big impression on Pruitt and he left a pretty good job to become an analyst on the UT staff. I'm pretty sure Pruitt wants to groom him for a position on offense, when the time is right. Is it just too early to make room for him now?

I think Pruitt would like to put Osovet and/or Lilly in an on-field position, if he had a spot. But the staff seems stable for now. If Weinke leaves, they could rejigger things a bit.

I say we focus our collective energies in finding the very best hidden gem. Then we can start rooting for that division ii school if this OC hire doesn't work out for us.

In fairness to basilio...basically everyone thought he was just collecting a check early on.

Eh, there were some who thought it was a quality hire. I said that we needed instant credibility and stability with a named coach. He gave us that.

The roster he inherited was a mess, and he beat UK in year one.

At this point does anyone even care what they do?
Yes. If it ends up being a decent move but those days are measured for me.

Not sure Pruitt is a closer tbh. You can't slow play candidates.

PS. I will eat acres of crow if we make some splash hire or Yurcich. Color me beyond skeptical.

Cool story bro time. Ran into Barry Krauss at a car dealership here in my hometown of Chattanooga today. Both of us were having recall work done. I know he's a bammer but he is a super nice guy. Currently works for the Indianapolis Colts radio network. I was repping my Vols gear too.

Haven't thought about this until now but with Memphis needing an OC... do they try to get johnson to come back? Not sure if he would want to or not or what they could even pay

Yeah I thought it was a great hire at the time. Very much didn’t fit the profile UT hires to. I was confused by all those saying “Meh.”

He's making $500k+, and I don't think Memphis will pay that, especially considering that Norvell calls the plays. I wonder if Mike Norvell would be our OC for $3 million.

I really wish it could have worked out with Helton, at least for another year. If Pruitt has decided he wants to spread it out with four receivers, Helton could have done that. And it'd be easier to sign those elite receivers if we had an OC. We have some offensive targets scheduled to be on campus this weekend.

But remember, there were a lot of whiny, impatient, never-satisfied fans here, who are always looking to fahr someone, that wanted him gone. Careful what you wish for. We'll never learn.

I’m just not expecting anyone with proven success. I do not expect any sitting coordinator to leave a good situation to come here. Yurcich didn’t add up.

And at this point why hitch your star to Pruitt’s wagon? That he whiffed on Helton is a major major blow to his development as a HC.

I expect a position coach, fired OC, or someone on shaky ground to come here. Especially considering this next class has nobody really exciting on offense coming in to work with immediately.

Man that was sad to write. Somebody pick me up.

Well, apparently Pruitt wasn't satisfied either. I wanted stability and wasn't calling for him to be fired, but he needed to improve on some of his game plans.

Harrison Bailey; most important position on the field.
