Newberg of FSU 247 said he has heard conflicting info on Briles wanting to bring a coach with him. FSU is in same spot as us that they will not let go their oL coach. I don't know about the rest of their spots though. So they may be more flexible.

They also had a poster ask him about Yurich. He claims when Pruitt called Yurich he was told he is staying until a HC job comes along.

I don't see us getting Briles. You had to seal the deal when you had chance and can't let him interview anywhere else.

I believe Tee has an elevated opinion of his current skill set. He sees himself at the very least, a Power 5 OC or a head coach. He’s not taking a step backwards unless forced from lack of job opportunities
I think coaching is similar to capitalism. The coaching market dictates what you are and if he did not succeed in being a co-op and then a midseason elevation, I think he needs to work himself back up. I think this could be a perfect opportunity for both of them and then when a few HC jobs such as a sun belt or conference USA job become available he looks like a premium candidate.

What’s odd is that I am not even sure Friend is the proper coach for the Briles system and frankly his unit was the worst on our team. Why would Pruitt want a mismatch?

Don’t blame Briles for wanting his own OL coach. His system depends on the proper coaching. Pruitt can’t have it both ways

Briles can still bring his Oline coach, that’s not a problem. He can be “named” to another position but still implement his schemes.

When you coach OLINE is not like it’s your style and that’s it and you can’t coach anything else.

Coaches are flexible and can adapt to whatever the Offensive philosophy is being brought in.

The problem is when you have just installed a certain scheme and the kids are still learning that style then you bring in a scheme that includes spacing and RPOs with spacing gaps, it puts a lot of added information that these kids have to learn.

So it’s mainly just another learning curve for them.

I’m starting to believe this hire will tell us if Pruitt is gonna be the guy. If he goes safe, I’m afraid it’s going to negatively impact his rebuilding
Agree, if he continues to run up the middle twice then short pass or deep 50/50 ball for 2 more yrs he shouldn’t see yr 4. It’s gonna take 4-5yrs of recruitment to be at Bama UGA talent level and unless he miraculously lands the top spot this yr in front of those he’s already behind going into yr 2

briles is trying to implement his father's great idea of meshing the yeoman veer with the airraid, both of which require wide line splits and a diff coaching system with the OL. Art brought the smashmouth running to the airraid thru disguising OL tendencies that the defensive linemen are traditionally taught to read. Offense can be installed in a few days but the nuance is critical. If he wants Clements then move Friend and cut someone else if a multimillion dollar job and success are important to you

at same time i believe Friend could learn, prob already knows, his system, and implement it, just not as quickly as Briles own guy

Here it is guys, the kick in the nuts hire. Bank on it:

Mike Lebby, the QB coach at UCF per Hubbs is another candidate coach interviewed yesterday
It is Jeff Lebby, and he worked with Briles at Baylor. If he was interviewed it wasn't for OC. More than likely a replacement for Weinke.

I would think that is significant news that points to Briles.

Sure it’s not Jeff Lebby? Lebby was passing game coordinator, recruiting coordinator, and running backs coach with Briles at Baylor. Could he be interviewing for a position other than OC?

Can someone tell me why Yurcich would come here? Does he hate Gundy? I can’t see him elevating his star if he comes to the SEC.
