That was my thought as well. The term "catholic" (small 'c') has a much different connotation than it used to. Historically, it's meant "global". Today, it connotes "big-c".

Our church makes a slight change if we reference it. The president and first lady may have just chosen to quietly abstain. Odd that the left are the ones who are attacking our state leaders for exercising freedom of/from religion.

I would have also quietly abstained. My right to do so. I don’t find it strange at all that mountains are being made out of molehills yet again, I have come to expect it. Sad state of affairs.

You do realize we have more troops in Africa than anyone right? The US set up logistics all over that continent 10 years ago, I know this for a fact because I was there.

Depends on what that opinion is. When Obama was in office the world opinion was that he was a pushover, put foreign interests ahead of ours. That is a bad view of our president for the world to have.

It’s pretty much printed in every funeral pamphlet for every catholic funeral I ever went to. Didn’t say it then, won’t say it now.
I’ve looked, I think more people were interested in making me a social butterfly than respecting my privacy in churches. I stopped looking after that.

These sources , same ones Woodward used in his book ? It may just be me but I doubt a chief of staff and a president don’t speak to each other .
