It’s not surprising that “Christians” should be seen as more forgiving but I suspect that there have been some heart to heart discussions about confessions and repentance and such. If HF is just using Liberty to work his way into a bigger paycheck someday I think that will be seen as pretty cynical.

If Liberty is where HF lands I think he should stay there, period. He will be living the life of the 1% with a hefty paycheck and he will be in an environment that may be best structured to nurture his lifelong recovery from his downfall.

There is a difference between self-righteous and righteous. As institutions, we, Auburn, and others may qualify as self-righteous and understandably so. Liberty, though very far from perfect, can make claims to the latter and mostly it’s only the mockers that will scoff. Liberty don’t care. It’s in their job description.

Welp...it's been great for the most part, about the only thing that involves being a Vol that I've enjoyed for the last ten years, but I think I'm going to just take a hike from following football for a while...just way too much bad news coming in waves, for way too long. It's just not any fun anymore, and I'm sick and tired of being disappointed, with no end in sight.

I've come to believe LWSvol has been right all along about the program, and all I do is get on everybodys nerves speaking my mind on what I believe to be the truth.

This years class is going to end up 12-20 and be a major disappointment, we are getting a crap OC, and Pruitt will be fired after four years IMO. I really hope that I am wrong about it all though.

Love you guys, have fun, and maybe I'll see a few of you in the M&M or Pub forum from time to time.

If the OC hire ends up as Kendal Briles, that's a home run. Big upgrade from Helton, and Briles is a proven OC and playcaller

Damn the media and their hypocrisy, duplicity, affectation. The sanctimonious virtue signalling that we'll inevitably hear from the media will be just a temporary blip on the radar.

JAV is back posting some on 247, he has some good insight into Briles offense and Pruitt's thinking, though I'd share a few of his posts from last night...

I've got nothing there. I would think that if Briles is the man, it will begin leaking sometime tomorrow or Saturday. In any event, my opinion is that we will have a new OC no later than Tuesday of next week. Good to be back.

I'll add to my initial reply about Briles. Hiring him won't be a good look and won't be well received by alot in the media. Everyone will have to be prepared to hear alot of negative things about UT. It will pass on a couple of months and will be out of mind if he's successful and has no issues while here. Pruitt is looking for the best possible guy to get things turned around in a hurry. Some fans may be ok with another 5 win season but JP and staff are determined to make a big jump next season.

I love Jim Chaney and really enjoy listening to him talk about football and just life in general. He's a great guy to just talk to.

I think Dan Enos is one of the smartest guys in football. He's really cerebral and is going to turn into a really good HC somewhere down the line. He's just a sponge and is willing to change the way that he thinks about the game.

If I were Pruitt and I wanted someone who could transform my offense from the putrid state that it was in most of this past season to something explosive, Kendall Briles would be way out front. He's going to score alot of points wherever he goes and will utilize the talent we have to its greatest potential. If it is him, folks will be surprised at how those non SEC lineman begin to look more than competent. That offense just from an alignment standpoint sets up any defense to be stressed and forces you to concede something that is potentially explosive play on every play. It is QB friendly because it allows for quick pre snap reads and forces man coverage but mitigates the blitz from the field. It highlights a really mobile QB but doesn't punish a less mobile guy. There's a play to beat the blitz built in because of the way that he uses the WR's and their splits. It is very difficult to run blitz him because the lanes are so wide due to the field being stretched so far horizontally. Your runners and screen catchers get alot of one on one matchups and many times their front gets overwhelmed or flanked, which leads to big chunks of yardage. Briles is the guy if you want to make a big leap offensively next year and beyond.

There was never a consistent message on offense last season by anyone involved. I do know that JP has talked to a ton of people that he respects and he's made a decision to embrace an explosive modern offense. I think that's why we've heard more about Freeze and Briles than anyone else. Briles offense is a throw first philosophy but it's best feature is being able to employ a physical, withering run game when it matters most. If you look at Baylor and the way they played, they would rack up 3 or 400 yards in games because they would use tempo early to wear down defenses with a relentless throwing scheme and zone plays, then hammer away with power runs. Same MO with Kiff and at Houston. There's nothing finesse about that offense. It's a bruising, punishing style of running and a ridiculously dynamic and aggressive throwing scheme that never lets the defense rest.

If we end up with Briles, that would be considered an extremely good hire. If we end up with McGoogle, I'll be at the pub with you.
