Wahhhhhhhhhh. Just win.

You’re completely right, winning solves everything, but the optics of this hire coupled with not winning is what worries me. Let’s not act like Briles is a for sure homerun hire.

I'm sorry, when isn't Tennessee villified? They can kiss my ass

Other than Schiano when has Tennessee been vilified?

Would love to be the villain!

It’s better than being a punching bag, but I’d rather not be both.

Understand any backlash but assistant vs HC is different. It also was a combination of things on Schiano. Schiano was butch on steriods. Also had all the Tampa stuff. He isn't a good coach.

Briles has had two jobs since Baylor so clearly something has been vetted twice with no issues. His dad is the one that has the trouble.

All fair points, and for the record I have no problem with anyone not wanting Schiano, I sure as hell didn’t...but the lack of self awareness to still act like one is definitely involved because we didn’t want him and the other wasn’t involved because we do is just a bad look. (Not saying you in particular have said this, just in general).

Anyone else notice the random dudes that never post showing up with Briles hate

I have plenty of posts, and have been here for awhile. I just prefer to take in this circus from the stands most of the time.

Did anyone say the oline was good. You said it was Friend and myself and many others have said you are full of it. Who in all of football and not just college , could or would have made anything of this mess. Do you know or even ever played football (not Xbox or the electric football game). The backs missed holes a lot, the lineman missed blocks a lot, the qb held ball too long a lot, injuries all yr. All kinds of problems and you can honestly are pinning this all on the coach. Get real pal!

No. Some guy said he's one of the best OL coaches in the nation. That's laughable right now.

Yep, hard to be wrong when you never speak in absolutes. "He may visit...he may not. We'll see. Gotta like the Vols chances if he shows up...but if he doesnt, well, that tells you all you need to know, unless he changes his mind, which isnt out of the question. Who knows."
True but I don't listen to Hubbs for palm reading, I know some do. I like the legitimate info and interviews he gets from the recruits.

As far as the rest of the stuff, I feel about him the same way I do our insiders here. I like that his guesses are a little more informed, I don't truly expect him to tell me the future of everyone.

Briles was not implicated. He was not fired. He kept working at Baylor. Has had two jobs since. He should not be vilified because his last name is Briles when there is nothing that proves that he was involved. There’s not a shred of evidence that even makes it probable that he was involved. Just because his last name is Briles does not mean that he is guilty

So maybe Brice was right? Wonder who nixed that deal?

I’m not for certain on this. But from what I’ve heard and gathered... i don’t think it’s just one person coming in and being like whoa this isn’t happening.

I think some more stuff was brought forward to fulmer and Pruitt about Hugh’s past. It’s not far fetched to think Houston Nutt could’ve called fulmer or that Fulmer spoke with Current OM coach and former assistant Matt Luke... they all still have a relationship. But either way something came up and i think Pruitt and fulmer agreed to just go in another direction.

That makes the most sense. TY

This is the major thing. Listen we all know how these programs work. Everyone knows what going on inside their own building. But the fact of the matter is the NcAA couldn’t pin anything on KB and he stayed employed at Baylor, and has taken two other jobs since then and has became one of the best OCs in CFB.

There is no reason to block a briles here unless you are just scared of the way the media will try to spin it.

Rationale explanation I can buy.

Something else must have came up for Freeze to vanish from everybody's list!

Didn't that Auburn writer tweet Sankey still doesn't want him around but wouldn't block it officially but basically did by warning them they better be clean as there were more OM things not released?

If that is what happens I give up.

I have heard that Freeze would have some kind of recruiting restrictions if hired in the SEC. but don’t know for sure.

I know fulmer and Art Briles are very good friends and for it to even get this far, i think Fulmer probably spoke with Art to get a better understanding of KBs roll in the Baylor stuff. I’m also pretty sure cutcliffe is very close with the briles family too.

So i would think there is a very good shot. I’m told briles is supposed to be on campus tomorrow. Don’t know if that’s 100%, could be interviewing somewhere else. I still don’t think Enos is really in the mix. So i would set the odds at KB being the favorite right now probably with Ok St guy being a pretty far off 2nd.
I would be completely stoked about Briles or Yurcich. More so than an Enos hire actually.

You have no idea how many times I've asked why people assumed that Pruitt and Fulmer didn't agree on moving on. For some reason it just seemed like a crazy thought to so many other posters.
I always assumed they agreed. not because of any info, it just made the most sense.

I just hope we make a great hire. Someone that is creative in play calling, that will play to our strengths, instill confidence in the players, be multiple, not predictable, who game plans to attack where the opponent is weak.

And I dont really care who breaks the story, just get this thing done and over with so we can enjoy early signing day!

Yep. You shouldn’t keep a guy from working when there is no proof that he actually did anything wrong

I don't think Freeze hookers media backlash scared people off. I think the NCAA spotlight did. We don't want that by the sound of the ball game we are trying to play

The thing about it is... fulmer isn’t going to tell Pruitt flat out “No” on anything. Hell he gave Helton, basically a rookie OC a boat load of money, then as it seems the top two candidates of our OC search so far are The million dollar man Hugh freeze and the one of the hottest OCs in all of football, who just got a pay raise. If that doesn’t show that fulmer means business and we aren’t going bargain shopping anymore idk what else will.

Fulmer doesn’t want to win, He demands it.

Exactly. We’ve went two years where we’ve heard nothing but positive things about KB while working at FAU and Houston. I’m sure if we hired him the media would spend a couple days calling us hypocrites but it will be forgotten the next week.
