He was the OC for Lane Kiffin when he took the same job at Houston. He also interviewed for the head coaching position at Texas State and may have turned it down. He got a 3 year extension with Houston recently. He was on the staff, with his dad, when the Baylor stuff unraveled. At least he's moved on from the Baylor stuff and is making a good name for himself.I see what you're saying but, if Briles didn't have any real prospects for an OC job elsewhere at the time that Houston approached him, then why not just sign? Sure it was a risk, but one I'm sure he can live with. I mean, he wouldn't have signed it if he was opposed to staying in Houston another year, right? Nothing wrong with him staying there if he's happy or comfortable. He knows he'll leave for a promotion eventually.
