"I think the Hugh Freeze stuff has some legs"

Sooooo...Slive said 'no' last year when Saban kind of wanted Freeze. That, I guess, showed 'resolve' and a 'willingness to tell Bama no.' etc, etc....

Now that Saban may NEED Freeze, let me take a SWAG as to what the 'sudden' reversal of Slive's opinion might be??

Gumps run the SEC. The HQ is in BIRMINGHAM for a reason (and don't even start with the $1 rent BS)
Saban will get whomever he wants. Especially after January (whatever date) when he hoists yet another trophy.

how do you figure that with Lindsay?

i don't think freeze going to auburn has any bearing on us just out and out hiring Lindsay away from the plains. not sure Freeze is in play at Auburn anyway. they have an OC, and there's no designs on him leaving...yet.

as it stands, nothing could happen at Auburn and it's just business as usual.....Gus CAN'T fire him with that new contract deal, that was part of it, have to keep Chip.

the domino you wait on is what happens with Locksley at Bama. if he goes to be the HC at MD, then Bama has a spot...do they promote Enos? or do they go after Freeze if he's still available?
Freeze and Gus are really good friends and Auburn needs a spark is only way it happens. If the commies get Freeze then I think it'll come down to Streeter and Friend. I think Enos would stay and learn from Freeze a couple of years at Bama. Lindsay is in play simply because of Probst as Coach Pruitt is looking to find a way to add him to the staff and all 3 worked together before at Hoover. If it's Lindsay in the end then I think Probst would be added somehow as well, if we get Freeze I don't think we'll add Probst.

Ok that's fine, but I don't see Gus giving up some of his buyout money to fire Lindsey, he literally has to pay Lindsey's buyout if he were to fire him

Gus Malzahn to accept reduced buyout to remain at Auburn
exactly. he's tied to Chip unless he leaves on his own.

Freeze doesn't even enter in to the equation at Auburn unless that happens first.

if freeze is going to OC in the SEC, best chances it happens are at TN or Bama. and we are in line first.

so, if that's what we want, go do it.....virtually nothing stopping it from happening except whether or not we want to carry the baggage that comes along with the hire.

the good/bad news depending on your perspective, is that i'm pretty sure Bama is willing to do so should Locksley leave.

clock's ticking.

She's 32 NOW. She was a middle schooler when it happened.
You are correct on that. My bad. Did you actually read the article? The one girl was told to change her shirt in his office as he found it offensive. She cannot even say that he was looking at her as she changed as the article states she told them she was facing the corner of the room, not him. There were no reports of lewd comments or physical contact. The other girl broke a rule and thought she could get out of detention. They could choose to be paddled rather than go to detention. She thought she was OK because it was normal for a female teacher to paddle a female student. She was upset because she had to take the corporal punishment. Nothing sexual there at all.

I am indifferent to it, just saying that no one is perfect no matter how little or how much they preach about the Bible.
There's a good bit of area between "not perfect" and "hiring hookers for players using a burner phone".

I'm just curious how he will be received in living rooms

I don't really like the sanctimonious aspect of him... but I would get over that fast if we hired him and started winning.

To be honest, he sounds much humbled now. There are plenty of formerly sanctimonious people who found out suddenly that they are sinful, fallen, and imperfect....it often involved a lot of embarrassment. He seems contrite and self-aware about what happened. I think he deserves another shot.

If he kicks the ball into the stands a second time, all bets are off.

the only good news is that he wn't have to go to many living rooms....and likely the SEC would put restrictions on his ability to make in home visits, based on what i heard/read the other day.

i'm not one that thinks we have to hire Freeze. i see both good and bad.

i just know this, somone is going to hire him, and there's not a lot of debate about how good of an offensive mind he is.

over a long enough time line, the "bad" tends to fade a bit, espeically if he's successful and keeps his nose clean.

long story short, if we as a program decide we don't want to carry the baggage that goes along with hiring him, i'm fine with that and understand it.

Most won't care. Few will until (if) we start winning.

My only concern................well also a concern that he will somehow get us in trouble by doing something stupid
..

I honestly never liked him while he was at Ole Miss. HIs pious attitude while scoring hookers for players made me really hate him. I can't say I'm wildly excited about having him as our OC, but I am also tired of losing, so...¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It was never reported that he got hookers for players that I have seen. Only have seen that on here.
