i'd say with the apparenty desire saban may have to hire freeze, should Locksley bolt for MD, if there's an opportunity to hire freeze, i would think it should probabl get done before the end of the weekend.

if it doesn't, then i don't think this happens. jmo.

i think Lindsay is probably the guy in the end, and i won't be upset about that.

So we get the guy that Auburn wants to fire and Bama gets the best OC on the market? Maybe. I think we're due.

just saying there's a clock to this.

if Freeze is the guy, and you can make it happen........................make it happen.

siap in this thread, hiring Freeze is a very "untennessee" thing to do. so i'm still in the "see it to believe it" category.

that said, i'm encouraged that he was at least considered, and even talked to. there was a time, not very long ago, that we wouldn't have even picked up the phone to guage interest.

Sooooo...Slive said 'no' last year when Saban kind of wanted Freeze. That, I guess, showed 'resolve' and a 'willingness to tell Bama no.' etc, etc....

Now that Saban may NEED Freeze, let me take a SWAG as to what the 'sudden' reversal of Slive's opinion might be??

What I found disturbing is the accusation of making a middle school girl change in front of him. That's different than consenual sex between two adults.

And like with Schiano, it's may not be true, but if there's even a chance it is, do you really want him having an influence on this team?

That accusation makes me want to back away.

Not trying to be an ass but Mike Slive hasn't been SEC commissioner for about three years, also you know, he died back in May

either way, baggage or not, we, historically, have never made real effort to go get big name guys. ever. last one that comes to mind is probably Johnny majors coming off a Natty at Pitt to come home.

past that we've been VERY conservative in our hiring practices.

Only way we get Lindsay is if Auburn gets Freeze I feel. If Bama gets him then Lindsay will stay put at Auburn and I believe Enos would stay and work alongside Freeze for a couple of years.

I don't see Auburn going after Freeze, Gus literally agreed to a renewed contract that makes it harder for him to fire Lindsey. Lindsey for all intents and purposes is there until he decides to leave

Shoop was a big name guy. So was Wilcox I believe. Before that was the Lane train full of big names. Just because they don't seem to work out at UT doesn't mean we don't try sometimes

how do you figure that with Lindsay?

i don't think freeze going to auburn has any bearing on us just out and out hiring Lindsay away from the plains. not sure Freeze is in play at Auburn anyway. they have an OC, and there's no designs on him leaving...yet.

as it stands, nothing could happen at Auburn and it's just business as usual.....Gus CAN'T fire him with that new contract deal, that was part of it, have to keep Chip.

the domino you wait on is what happens with Locksley at Bama. if he goes to be the HC at MD, then Bama has a spot...do they promote Enos? or do they go after Freeze if he's still available?

easy to forget when itls surrouned by so much "fail".
Shoop was a big one.

and i just cant' count the kiffin year. big package deal that went bust. don't recall Wilcox being received with a bunch of hub bub....but that could just be me.

Gus and Freeze are really good friends and Auburn is in need of a big spark. It would not surprise me at all if it were to happen.
