If so status quo. Feelings toward the staff shouldn't change imo
Dude has never called plays, couldn’t coach up the OL this year, and there are proven BIG TIME OCs on the market. Plenty to be upset if Pruitt goes with Friend. In my book that’s a Butch Jones move until proven otherwise.

If you were happy with Pruitt before today and thought he was going to get it done hiring friend shouldn't change that thinking at all. If anything you should be happy as we all saw Helton Struggle. No reason to have any reaction at all really if that's the hire

Definitely wouldn't be end if the world but i would be meh about it. If Friend then it's probably a collaboration on gameplan with him, Weinke, Osovet and Lilly. We have two really good coaches not in on field positions right now in Osovet and Lilly who are very valuable so I wouldn't blame him for going internal because of those reasons.

I highly doubt Pruitt promotes someone on staff.
He can not afford that right now for he has a chance to at least name wise blow the cover off and really needs to take advantage for.
Offset the season/optimism will be up after a crap year and keep what he has been preaching that get my guys and we will go places.

This just isn't true. We are confident in Pruitt because he is an elite recruiter and quite possibly the best defensive coach in college football. The one hire that he has to get right is OC. If he promotes Friend and he turns out to be no better than Helton, we will not be competitive. He doesn't have to hire Hugh Freeze. But with the money we were paying Helton, he can do a lot better than Will Friend. Get somebody with big time play calling experience and turn the offense over to them and let them run the show. That's what Kirby did in hiring Chaney. Chaney isn't an elite OC, but he's good, and he has a lot of experience. Pruitt needs to do the same thing.

Like I said last week Pruitt and Heltons success are tied together. Now just replace Helton with friend.

I am saying Helton/friend are one in the same an extension of each other

Dude no one can be as bad as Larry Scott. I remember the only thing that was mentioned as a pro for him early on was that "he was involved in using 2 tight end sets" and pretty much nothing else.

That's not good, Bruin. Our offense ranked 112th, and a lot of that was due to terrible strategy and play calling.

If you have Alabama level talent, especially a defense that never breaks, you can win a whole mess of games with a rush-heavy, power game. If you're trying to rebuild a program populated with players meant for a speed-based spread system, that square won't fit in any round hole.

This is how I think Pruitt rebuilds with a power D and heavy rush. No different with UA when Saban arrived to deal with Meyer and others in the league. If the other team can not score they can not beat you. It may not be flashy on offense but 10-7 is a win all day. Plus yeah Freeze is great at spread and fast scoring offenses that light up the score board but if you do not have depth on the defensive side of the ball you will get just as many and probably more put up against you. Until UT builds up depth on D you want to control the clock and slow the game down. Not turn it into a race.

OCs don't have much of a role in recruiting

And I would like to know his role with the offense at florida. Did he call the plays?
Did he give total control to his OC? What were the dynamics there?

I just looked up Michigan's progress from 2017 to 2018

Went from 105th in total offense to 46th.

Went from 80 something in scoring to 20th.

Just saying.
