We were talking SEC jobs. ;) Specifically comparing USCe and UT.
But by your metric what I just said was completely "factual" and true so..... There must be metrics other than wins that determines the quality, prestige, and attractiveness of a program?

Will Friend is not the answer though, maybe Osovet.... maybe, and we need to hold onto to Tino as well whether that means a promotion of some sort or whatever
i don't know if he's hte asnwer or not, i'm not "rooting" for him to get the job.

just going on what we have done in the past, specifically what Fulmer has done in the past in regards to coordinator hires, and how that translates to today.

you have a former OC on staff, that has a great relationship with the HC. you have a former Heisman winning QB on the staff that can coach QB's. you have a bevvy of analysts that have a lot of experience, and by all accounts seem to be good recruiters........

i'll be shocked if we go hire a guy like Freeze or Kingsbury.

Bass, they’re trolling you. UT is the better job no matter what. Everyone knows that.

That's not altogether true. We are at a turning point. Big money hasn't done it. We have lost the last 3 agains SC and Vandy of all teams. Time for us to get it together. The Vols are selling building a winning program, long gone glory days. It's a matter of focus.

I don't think we'll see any hire that implements the Air Raid or comes from the Leach/Mumme tree. That's going to eliminate Spavital, Kingsbury, and Monken. Pains me to say it because I think focusing on a power run game is antiquated at this point. If a team can figure out how to overlay a dynamic, air raid offense with a typical hard-ass SEC defense, they'll be extremely hard to beat. Alabama, while not necessarily embracing the air raid, has significantly improved the versatility and impact of their offense by throwing more.

I think Friend has his hands full with the offensive offensive line. Bring in a creative OC. Not sure on Freeze . He wasn't smart enough to use a burner phone.

A bit of a catch 22 for Pruitt. If he tries to get involved with the offense and the offense fails, then he was meddling and prevented the best staff on the planet from succeeding...ala Bob Shoop. If he doesn't get involved and the offense fails, he clearly wasn't providing proper leadership or he hired poorly or whatever, but also has a legitimate claim that the responsibility for failure rests on the guys who were tasked with running the offense.

I honestly think Helton was better than it appeared, but a combination of JG's complete lack of awareness and the OLs screen door philosophy of blocking hurt greatly. But what else do you do? Chryst clearly had better grip on some things, but one of those things was completing passes to the opposing team. No matter how you spin it, dude was dealt a stinker of a hand. Gut tells me a good OC could mitigate those limitations, but I don't think anyone would be clamoring to play the hand that Helton was dealt.

In the way Kiffin made Crompton good enough to get drafted, a good hire can fix this well enough to win some games next year. We'll see soon enough.

SC has only finished inside the top 20 in recruiting once in the last 3 years. Meanwhile, TN, is about to close with Morris, Wright, Pappoe, and many other top players and will finish no worse than 12th nationally. In spite of our struggles, players still come here. But SC is a better job? Nope.
If this recruiting class falls apart at all, we will need to have 24/7 supervision of Bass

Jim McElwain --- F no.

SC is technically a better job right now.... but long term, UT still has the highest ceiling. UT has a better chance of rising from the ashes than SC ever getting to the next level.

True enough. I've been following UT football for over 50 years.

No

This is an SEC staff making SEC money. It’s a step backwards for everyone but Helton
He could possibly take someone to be his OC...Friend would be a possibility, but that is likely a step back for him as OL coach in the SEC is a better job than OC at WKU.

My concern with Freeze would be it would be very short term.

I have the same concerns, but I think it is a chance you take. If he sets the world on fire enough to warrant a Power 5 head coaching gig (which is what I assume he wants again) then that means UT has most likely had some success in the W-L column.

you're right. let's blame no one, hold hands and play patty cake instead.

No doubt it's a tight rope. Pruitt has the challenge of lighting a fire under the team. Lot's of moving parts. Certain facets seem worthy of comment to me.
