The lines RC had would stomp a mud hole in the two JG has had to play with ..... your stats are meaninglessSo I looked up stats. Rick Clausen played two seasons for UT, the same as JG thus far. Clausen's stats are first, followed by JG's:
total yards passing: 2390 to 2765
14 TDS to 15 TDS
11 INTS to 4
58.5 COMP to 63.2
6.95 YPA to 7.66
12 sacks to 47
It should be noted that Clausen's weaker year was his second one, and that was 2005, which was the worst season in over two decades (5-7). So he was not playing with a world-beater squad that year.
47 sacks in two years = not a good QB.
You made the comparison psycho.
You wanted to use Big Ben as some example of perfect qb play and things JG can't do.
Then he did several things that you are complaing about when it comes to JG.
So Big Ben can't read a defense either then? He got hit a ton. Got hurt and came back. Missed a couple wide open passes, even threw a pick in the endzone to end the game.
I guess Rothlisberger is terrible too. No qb ever has a bad game.
Most teams would be excited to have a qb with a 62.2%, 140 plus rating, 4/1 td/int ratio season as a sophomore with two wins over top 25 teams against the toughest schedule in the country, with a terrible team around him, back.
Rick Clausen had much more talent around him and was worse in literally every single passing stat. JG is better than a ton of qbs we have had.
I laffed...Ok.... while the JG story has yet to be fully written.... he has some good traits and some bad ones ..... but any of you guys that think Ricky rag arm was a better QB needs to be evaluated for a traumatic case of the dumb
Your feelings, like many other emotional fans, are clouding you evaluation.Numbers do not tell the whole story. Watching a QB with a "Deer in the headlights" look on almost every passing play does.
Hey he probably had that look in at least 9 for the 11 games this year even against some of the lesser opponents like ETSU. Many Vol fans are in agreement with my position from what I read this year. You are part of the minority position on JG but I guess your smarter than everyone else.Your feelings, like many other emotional fans, are clouding you evaluation.
Playing with a historically bad line and getting sacked 2 times per game while completing 62.2% and a 4/1 td/int ratio is not "deer in the headlights."
maybe last year when he took over 5 sacks a game.

Obviously you didn't as the people who cover the team have constantly reaffirmed for the dummies that the sacks are due to missed assignments.LOL, not "Deer in the Headlights" . Did you just listen to radio broadcasts this year and not watch any games on TV ?
Yep a real deer in the headlights.[/QUOTE]Obviously you didn't as the people who cover the team have constantly reaffirmed for the dummies that the sacks are due to missed assignments.
2 sacks per game. Not even in the bottom half for sack rate. Over a 140 rating first year starting with the toughest schedule in the country. Yep a real deer in the headlights.
Chryst has played his last game of football. Why not let this subject die and look forward to Spring practice and see who comes out the best QB. Who knows, we may have to wait to see if the incoming Freshman from Florida may be the starter this Fall.JG is the best QB we have like it or not. Chryst is a turnover machine. You ain’t winning that way either.

IMO being stubborn about keeping JG at the helm was the biggest mistake all season. I realize that it's easy to blame the QB but he's clearly not capable of generating sufficient offense for Tn to be competitive consistently. Allowing Chryst to get more reps and gel with this offense earlier in the season would I believe made the difference in a few games like South Carolina and possibly Vandy. JG got tons of grace from throwing up a few 50 50 balls successfully. The guy is really is not very dynamic and has NO RUNNING ABILITY. Itll be extremely discouraging to see him at the top of the depth chart next season. Thoughts on the chances are that Pruitt moves to start a freshman next seaon?
