How do you guys handle SEC rival players in the NFL if they didn’t do something jerkish against Tennessee... except for winning?

I mean, we all know how we feel about Tabor, and some others, but are you able to move on and not hold college allegiance against players like Gurley, etc.?
I dont much care who they played for when they get to the NFL as long as they weren't personally a dick to UT in college.

Yea but sometimes weird things happen with QBs. I’m not even a big JG guy but he has tools. He could make a huge stride going into next year and be able to carry an offense.
-LeBron GOAT
-Jordan made a living off going against drivers Ed teachers and accountants
-Brady,Manning, Montana
-Bellicheck = Overrated
-Topgun = best volleyball movie ever
-cast away = 2nd best volleyball movie ever
-Butch = Not terrible
-Dooley = terrible
-JG = lost cause
- KC = worth a shot
-Tim Jordan, meet the bench.

We good?

Georgia State, BYU, and Chattanooga should be 3 wins right off the bat. After that I expect to beat South Carolina, UAB, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt. That's 7-5. If we do in fact land some of these big fish that we're supposedly going to land, and another year of developing the current team, 7-5 really needs to happen.

Players and coaches. Dead end job for a lot of folks. Thus the fiasco of a coaching search last fall.
The coaching search was an elaborate ruse to force Schiano on us. There was no search firm and only deliberate misdirection before arriving at the pre-determined choice from Haslam that blew up . After that it was a fiasco.

Do you sense that he really loves it at UT or just knows that's what he's supposed to say?

I feel like he’s a pretty genuine guy and doesn’t rattle one-liners like some of our previous coaches. That’s why he has so much success in recruiting and has the respect of so many former players. The guy shoots you straight and won’t BS you.

Not really, I don't think you're getting my point. If we're third in the east and getting blown out by GA and FL that's different from being in the top three and rotating years between FL and GA and being competitive in your losses.

Got it now. You meant to say "competing for trips to Atlanta," not being "top 3 in the East."

Also, I'm not talking about floor and ceiling for this staff. All I'm saying is I've not seen anything to get excited about. Maybe that changes. Maybe it is 100% on the players. I think it's a combination of a below average roster, a culture of losing being acceptable (to some) and rookie coaches that are feeling their way through this. I think they've been in successful programs and are trying to apply it to this program without the weaponry that they are used to.

I guess I just don't see much difference in saying you've seen nothing to get excited about from a staff and saying you don't think a staff has a very high ceiling. Either way, I still think it's premature. I get that we live in an instant gratification society and hot takes have become the norm, but I just think we're in a situation right now where (as difficult as it is) we have to wait and see to know what we've really got. Anything else is basically just a hunch at this point.

I like that. I think he's the type that you shouldn't ask him a question if you don't really want to know the answer. So I'd like to ask him how much he wants that Alabama job when he comes open lol

It doesnt bother me. Some of my favorite players played at rivals. I don’t really dislike/root against players except for rare cases like Tabor (but I don’t root against him, I just dislike him)

Seems pretty quiet from the recruiting weekend. I hate the continued next year mantra but hopefully there is room for optimism for next year. I still don't think we will be good on either lines, but who knows. We need Wanya to be great from the start. Don't know that Darnell (if we sign him) will be a plug-in starter year one. I think we have some talent on the D-line (Mincey, Gooden) but our depth will be a huge question mark. Similarly, can we get speed from our LB crew without getting gashed on inside runs?

Good enough for a Music City Bowl trajectory. If we are going to get where we want and think we should be, top ten is an absolute minimum. And as we saw with Butch, that doesn’t mean much for the future unless it’s every year.

That shouldn’t be a problem with a recruiting staff at Tennessee regardless of the previous regime’s record.
Butch had two top 5 classes. Doesn’t mean much if those players aren’t developed and win games.

Hey folks - would appreciate prayers. Got to bring our newborn home yesterday, but she has a fever today and we’re at Children’s hospital. They’re doing a series of tests and keeping her overnight. I’m confident all is well, and also know that prayers help. Much appreciated.
