Clausen was clutch, and that was apparent while he was playing. I wouldn’t consider Ainge as great but good. Dobbs was a great athlete but not always a great QB.

Maybe you have another criteria for elite, but people like Peyton, Tebow, Dak, Eli, Stafford, etc. were great college QB’s.

my post wasn't about his coaching abilities, it was about him needing time to rebuild like anyone else. Read my post again, it wasn't about success AFTER.

He had his clutch plays but he also had times where he made mistakes in clutch moments. I think he probably made more clutch plays than not tho. I also think part of the reason he didn’t take over more games than he did is bcuz of the coaching staff

I’m fine with Helton. I’d love Fulmer to come out and give every coach an extension and a raise if we lose to Vandy. Just send a message straight to the heart of this fanbase that this a long, difficult rebuild and you aren’t going to undo it by perpetuating the constant negativity and volatility that ultimately undermines player development and recruiting.

The war now is with our fanbase IMO. Got to keep the passions at bay while we fight through this. The impatience of our fanbase is the final hurdle in our rebuild IMO.

We will see how that plays out.

Adjusted for yesterday's debacle - UT is still #44 in total D. Mizzou moved up to #74. Mizzou has been on D for 54 more plays than UT. So UT's average yardage given up per play is 5.57 with Mizzou at 5.90. Considering UT's stats were distorted by 3 blow outs with WVU, Bama, and Mizzou.

You may not even want to know on O stats. Mizzou is #17 at 6.10 yards per play. UT is #113 at 5.50 yards per play. Mizzou has been on O for 156 more plays.

Edit: The ranking of each is based on total yards, not yards per play.

I loved Dobbs but not sure if you remember all of Clausen’s games. Most clutch UT QB in the last 35 years not named Peyton. More than just a few games.

I don't know if you're too young to know or too old to remember, but there was major controversy with PM as starting QB as well. Many were sure that Brandon Stewart was better and should be the starter. Their argument was that PM was only the starter because of the family. That thought continued until probably shortly after BS transferred and wasn't doing as well as PM. Even then PM was frequently nitpicked... happy feet, couldn't beat UF, yada, yada, yada.

A well-respected Georgia poster on another board says Pruitt has already flipped a couple of Georgia commitments, and that yesterday's performance has no impact on what Pruitt is pitching these recruits. TIFWIW
