How would have Leach and Minshew fared this season at UT?

I'd change the D to delusion, but I think you're onto something. BQBDS is very real and should be copyrighted.
Now if someone could just come up with a prescription for it.

I've always argued Leach would've been a great hire, but he would have fared poorly this year. And next. He'd take a bare minimum of 3 years to be competitive and possibly 4.

Even more so than Pruitt, Leach needs a certain type of player to be successful in his system. Look at his results at Wash State. Terrible the first 3 years. After that, he's been great. And Wash State is easily one of the most difficult P5 jobs in the country. Tough to recruit there, but Leach has done a great job.

That said, I do think Leach's "Air Raid" offense would probably have fared better than Pruitt's power run attack this year. JG is actually a very good match for that system. And our O-line can't run block, so Leach would probably pass like 60% - 70% of the time. Of course, JG would be even more beaten up than he is right now, so there's that. Also, I don't think Leach wins that Auburn game, as a major reason we won was Pruitt was reading the offense, and communicating the perfect info to our D.

I think Leach would have found a way to scheme around it better than Helton. With that said, we probably would be between 4-5 and 5-4 at this point, but with a much better chance of success against the last three opponents.
I think he would have schemed that passing game better and probably gotten Minshew in here to run it. But, the defense would almost certainly be worse. That's why I think it's a push this year. It's hard to say going forward. I do think he would have been successful here. I'm still on the fence with Pruitt. I like what he's selling. I just hope he can deliver it before the villagers start grabbing their pitch forks and torches.

If it was only the talent level, then no way the SC or the Charlotte game is remotely close. With our receivers and QBs, leach would have put up some serious numbers.

And before any one says “No because our Oline sucks”, the pass protection is fixable if you can get everyone to know their assignments including and especially our TE’s and backs.
You seem to be drowning with Gruden. He is having a worse season than Tennessee and is sitting on a $100 million contract. What a waste of money. I am happy he is where he is and not in Knoxville coaching my VOLs.

The team would have still struggled to get to six, but you would have seen progress you could believe in on the field. The main difference between him and Pruitt, Leach is a proven offensive minded head coach who with time would had the team back to winning nine or ten games on average every year with some special seasons sprinkled in (yay!). Pruitt on the other hand, is an unproven defensive minded position coach who is not showing any real progress and is on a downward projectory(boo!).

Leach's air raid offense would have fit better with our current roster, so I'd guess he'd have 1 or 2 more wins (SC and maybe Florida).

Leach has had 1 "special" season under your definition in 17 years. He may have his second this year.

Leach would have started KC and gone to Hotlanta.

Leach is an interesting cat. Theres a YouTube video (that I wont link for language reasons) after the Baylor game IIRC in 09'.

Colorful postgame speech for his players.

Of course you can!

Ingredients
  • 1 pound boiled chicken cut into 1/2-inch cubes
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1 cup red grapes halved
  • 1/2 cup dried cherries
  • 1/2 cup roasted pecans chopped
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • celery leaves chopped (optional)
Directions

  1. Add chopped chicken to a large bowl along with celery, grapes, dried cherries, chopped pecans, mayonnaise, salt and pepper. If using chopped celery leaves, add these as well. Stir together until just combined.
Sounds good but I'd go an entire teaspoon on the black pepper , preferably freshly ground 😊

I was excited when I heard he was coming... I think JP has potential, but I think Leach would have found success here more quickly.

Lots of excitement for Coach Leach that's never won a conference title outright with his experience. Seems like his career capped itself with TT a few years back. If he couldn't win a Big 12 title why would anyone believe he could do better in the SEC?

Leach wouldn't run the ball into the line of scrimmage 25 times a game on the idea that eventually it will work.
I know you realize this so I’m not saying it for your sake but EVERY game plan ALWAYS must include a certain amount of run plays especially at the 1-3 or 2-4 hole (or however your terminology id’s it) because if you don’t, even if you make zero yards on it, will greatly effect the defensive schemes and effectiveness. The explanation and understanding of it is so long I’ll not bore anyone here but just for future reference ANY OC worth his salt will game plan this way... ALWAYS...and if we think our throw game is ineffective now just stop trying to run “up the middle “ some and you’ll REALLY see an ineffective throw game. That’s just my opinion and most NCAA coaches as well....

Don't forget that Mike Leach went 3-9, 6-7, and 3-9 in his first 3 seasons at Washington State. It took him a few years to build his program there just like it would have taken him a few years to build it here. ANYONE coming into this situation would have had to wade through 2 to 3 years of mediocre-at-best results.

The question for Fulmer was "What kind of program do you want to begin building?" and he chose to begin building toward great recruiting, great defense, and a physical run game and I'm glad he did. Since that's what Tennessee is trying to build, I don't think we could have made a better hire than Jeremy Pruitt.

Do you seriously believe that? Like fir real think that a guy that has no HC experience, had no HC offers that anyone is aware of, was way down the ask list for us is really THE best coach we could get? The very best fit?

Or is that just hyperbole that you need to be a fan?
