My only concern this year is this...at his current size/weight, can he survive a hit like some of the ones JG has absorbed?

You're way off base on this and know nothing about recruiting or even how the process works. Our suck clients as you call them have earned 6000+ college athletic scholarships saving them and their families millions of dollars the last 30+ years. 85% success ratio, A+ rated with the BBB, Corporated in 1991. Curious as to what someone as keen as you on college athletics does for a living.

I am not pushing for it, but if it helps us win 3 more games and make a bowl game, go for it. I would be surprised if he could do that, but I have not seen him practice and only saw film of his high school play. I would guess he has matured a bit and has learned the system fairly well. My guess is he would not play unless we are way ahead in one of the games, both the QBs ahead of him were injured, or we are so far behind in a game/s that we have no chance to win that game. I believe that the coaches will have him ready if the other two are injured and I trust their decisions over any speculations which are made by our fans.

It doesn’t matter who your father is, if you don’t have an nfl caliber arm, you don’t play in the nfl.

I actually agree with this. The starter on our team deserves the rest, after all the hits he has taken. Chryst has played well as the backup. So, go with him. If all else fails, you can always put JG back in. If we go up be 22 or more, then give Shrout a chance. It could pay off sooner than we might think.

I wish! Went to a basketball game there once and same week saw N Carolina play Clemson in Chapel Hill. I'm a fan of Tar Heel basketball ever since Jordan. Duke & N Carolina being 7 miles apart on the same main rd is crazy good I think. Lots of great schools within a 45 sq mile radius over there. Duke University performed major surgery on my mom years ago, love the Duke/NC rivalry, top 5 rivalry across all sports I believe!

Good grief, the 2 backups at Alabama and Clemson that are now starting were 2 of the best QB recruits in years. They replaced less talented QBs than them. TN is not similar in that our current backups are no where near as highly decorated as Tua and the guy at Clemson who now starts, nor are any of our current backups as good as JG in the eyes of our coach.

You've missed the point. And your point. No one was comparing our backups to Tua. I'm not even sure you actually read the first sentence of my post.

I didn't miss your point, the 3 situations are totally different and we are in no way a similar situation to the QB changes that took place at bummer and Clemson. Only thing similar is that all 3 programs recruit back up QBs so as to have 3-4 on roster at all times. Playing 3rd string qb almost got Clemson beat a few weeks ago and should Tua go down and Hurts is not ready after his surgery then Bama will be playing a guy they never intended to play and was recruited as a backup.

That 3rd stringer at Clemson actually saved that game. He was lights out. A quality QB. Not a recruited backup.

But you parcel them out as BACKUPS! I know more about recruiting than you pretend to. No way is it “common” for programs to recruit for backups! Not even Bama does that. Their fourth string at any position could start at many P5 schools. I could give a shat about the BBB or tax implications of whatever it is that you’re schlocking. Maybe you’re a highly rated success with ratings out the yahzoo. On here you’re a babbling incoherent spazz in drastic need of a sedative.

They mentioned the purpose of recruiting Hurts and Bryant as STARTERS...not backups in anticipation of a Tua or Lawrence and you tanked your VN credibility ranking down to a F- in the following filibuster.
