Pruitt gets 3 Years

So you are going the true fan police, Fairweather fan route? Typical.

We fill the stadium also because opposing fan bases tend to travel well to Knoxville and the attendance numbers are greatly exaggerated.

This year we had hope, so more folks attended at least so far. Let's see the crowd numbers the next 3 weeks and talk again after.
what does that have to do with anything? the only known is that YOU won't be attengng or watching....i find it odd that you proclaim that you only record the games, to later delete them, yet feel compelled to come here and ish all over anything TN.

you come on here, and preach to folks what trash TN is, then get upset about "true fan" BS, then proceed to root for the failure of the program, and exude HOPE that people stop coming to games and supporting the program....LIKE YOU HAVE.............

and that's difference between you....and many others (self included) that have been critical of the program.

you actively support FAILURE. based on how you post, what you post, and apparently what you WANT to happen, butchna's true fan narrative applies to you...specifically and directly.

Though Bill Battle had a winning record during his brief tenure, it was argued that his recruiting left Majors "in a hole." Still, Majors did not reach 8 wins in an 11-game season until his 5th year at the helm. Phil inherited a "stocked cupboard." Arguably, his coaching and hires led to a golden age of Volunteers football. He did not stumble until his 13th year.

Perspective: In our history, we have a seasoned head coach arguably "under performing" his first four years, and a first-time head coach catching fire with a loaded roster.

Temper your expectations for the initial years of CJP's tenure. His inheritance includes 1 year of laughable Lane, 3 years of Double-D, and 5 years of Lyle, who could recruit but arguably couldn't coach a game or run a program. Pruitt has a 6-year contract. The team will be 100% his recruits coached by his staff ~year 4. That's an appropriate amount of time to make an informed assessment (Unless there are major violations or scandals during the first 4 years of his tenure).

:two cents:

You can't compare the eras. Things are different now.

I don’t see where I detained you or even attempted to dissuade you from giving up on this team...on the contrary I wholeheartedly endorse you flying the coop...chaffe the bad wheat I say! Just leveling with you that this fanbase hasn’t elected you or your 5 year doomsday timetable. We’ll be here in 3 weeks...3 years...3 decades. If you’re still ticking I’m sure you’ll be predicting we’ll finally die by the 35th year. 😉

Also you can choose to sit back with your holier than thou fan attitude and just accept the crap on the field and hope it improves while hanging on every second of suck.
As for me, I hope it gets better, but not going to be invested until it does. And then, guess what? I still get to be a fan, same as you and there is nothing you can say or do about it.
I don’t want you invested. You’re rot on the vine. Being the face of “we’re dying” movement speaks tons of your prowess as a fan. We don’t accept or hang on...we hire somebody to recruit the players and coach them. If they fail, we replace them. You overthink your individual importance in the grand scheme...I don’t. Fans will be there when they win...guess you’ll be dead? 😏

Right... I suppose you consider my decades of experience to be meaningless as well. Should I shut my mouth, step aside, and let 20-somethings decide all?

Whippersnappers...

As a whippersnapper myself yes.

Things are just different now than in Majors or even CPFs days, the money being paid for one means you can't sit on an under-preforming coach, recruiting is 100% changed and fans are much less patient.

Don't fall down and hurt yourself while staring at your phone, headed to get another beer.

• First year I expected an up & down season with improvement. I think Pruitt has fairly managed that well by beating Auburn.

• Second year I expect to be competing on a consistent basis. No, I’m not saying we should beat Bama & Georgia. I’m expecting to be competitive with the likes of Mizz, SC, UK, and Vandy.

• Third year I expect 9 or 10 wins the most by having a chance to win the East. Pruitt will have two recruiting classes under his belt with the players he wants in his system. If he’s not winning on a consistent basis by then, his seat will and should get warmer.

I’m not asking to be National Champs but I expect to be in the SEC Championship (Winners of the East) sometime from now.

Seems pretty reasonable to me.
I guess that "Freak" is a reasonable name for someone who has no concept of the depth of the problem, the method of solving the problem and the time required to slove the problem. Your definations of a deadline seems to be based on a knee-jerk Jake-leg approach. There is a reason why someone is given a five year ontract to solve a specific problem and as long as progress is being made to solve a proble, the contract should remain. We are not even through the first year of the contract and you have already ready to cut 40% of the time off the contract. I believe the win over Auburn is at least one indication that progress is being made. The problem is much more sever than most of us realized and I am among many who believe that problem will be solved withjin the time frame of the contract. There is no reason for us to FREAK out during the first 13.3 percent of a contract's performance.

I'll try not to.

One of my pet peeves since moving to TN in the early 90s is the saying "that's the way daddy did it". If I've heard that once I've heard it a 1000 times and that thinking is one of the reasons UT football is where it is today.

fans are as impatient as they've ever been. majors called them the legion of the miserable backin the 70's and 80's. and that was just what he could hear on callin radio shows and around town etc...

they've always been there. you heard them in the stands at games when you were kids or young adults.

they just now have the means to make their opinions more available today than they ever have had. that's the only difference in the fans today...social media, message boards etc....fans are the same. the delivery method is different.

I challenge ANYONE to find one post where I "rooted" for the failure of the program. ONE.

You can probably find several where I present a less than positive view on the state of our program but NEVER root for failure.

I'll wait.

Did you post this so you could come back at the end of the season to congratulate Butchna?

Or to cash in on an I told you so?

Or are you even gonna pay enough attention to know what happened?

It’s not about being patient.

I’ve said it numerous times that I trust Pruitt in his abilities as a HC even though he wasn’t on my radar during the coaching search.

I consider myself a sunshine pumper but I also tend to give my opinion out even if some don’t agree with it.

You know me better than anyone that I don’t look to be negative and find any way I can to criticize Pruitt.

I just think 3 years is reasonable enough to figure out what kind of coach Pruitt will be.

FWIW, Coaches Hot Seat rankings moved Pruitt from Safe for Now to Edge of Hot Seat, one spot below Kiffin.

That's a click bait garbage site. They have Gundy on there. Ok St has finished the year ranked 8 times since he's been there. In their entire program history they finished the year ranked 8 times. He's coming off three consecutive 10 win seasons, lost his QB who was drafted, and stubbed his toe this year and he's on their hot seat?

OP will be happy. Because we go 9-3 next season. I used to post way more, and don’t have a habit of making bold predictions.

So here are my reasons.

1) WAY improved OL. Brandon Kennedy back. Wanya and Lampley are solid additions. If we land Wright and/or Ndoma-Ogar it’ll be huge. I say we get one of the two. And every guy back from this year with a year in the system and another year of S&C.

2) OL improvement means vast offensive improvement. Every starter/skill player is back plus a few guys like Ramel Keyton thrown in the mix.

3) DL will be better. Hear me out. Yes we graduate Kongbo, Bain, Johnson, Tuttle, Phillips.

Here is the reality. Kongbo had one good game. Bain is walk on talent that has to play because depth is bad. Tuttle has never been the same post-Kublanow. We will miss Alexis. We will miss Phillips.

However we are adding a minimum of two JUCOs in Middleton and Savion. Gooden has shown flashes and will be very good next year. You’ve got Darrel Taylor, Deandre Johnson, Matthew Butler, John Mincey, Kingston Harris, Kurrot Garland, Greg Emerson and Kivon Bennett that should all be ready to go. No redshirts in that group next year.

Add True Freshmen Cox and Simmons. And we have enough scholarship talent that no walk on will see meaningful snaps. That’s an upgrade, no offense to Bain.

4) Your first 4 LBs could be Peterson, Banks, Bituli, Kirkland. I’m not sure Banks is done. Does Lakia Henry get in that rotation as well?

5) In the secondary you start Sophomores Taylor and Thompson. Studs. Probably Flowers and Warrior. Anything is an upgrade over Kelly and Abernathy.

9-3 with losses to UGA, Bama, UF. Ya that sucks. But it’s year 2.

Sorry but this thinkng is not true for every single program because not every situation is the same. Look at Stoops. Would absolutely ANY UK fan imagined that he would have them in a position to win the East and be in the top 10 after year 3? Highly doubtful. The old thinking that app,ies to guys like Saban or Malzahan is antiquated. The rebuild job ahead of Pruitt is monumental. The eye test should tell you that.

So say in year 2 he only wins 7? Does that really tell us anything? Not really.
If Stoops backs that up with good seasons in 19' and 20' that will make more sense. Hes a 6-6 year away from UK changing their tune again.
