8 wins great for who? If you mean the players, golf clap for those rascals. If you mean Pruitt, it's probably not good enough to get him a better job at a successful program. If you mean the fans, I wager that the prospect of maybe getting to 8 whole wins in a season is not going to drive ticket sales to particularly lofty heights. The economic times are changing; they are cyclical and the cycle is turning down. UT tickets are going to become less of a staple and more of a discretionary purchase. 8 doesn't get it.Those are reasonable expectations except year 3. Yes he will have some recruits under his belt but they will be young to very young and just starting to "maybe" fill the shoes he has for them. When his recruiting classes are juniors and seniors, we can come to a much clearer conclusion.
If I had to put a number on it, i'd say 8 wins will be great in year 3
I don't want to hear any serious talk about an extension until after the 2021 season, assuming CJP lasts that long. Bonuses are fine, maybe even a raise, but let's please not get drawn in to another knee jerk extension that could cost us millions more in stupid tax.
He'll most likely get 4 at the least, and also, probably won't see substantial 2nd-year growth like most "successful" college coaches, given what we are seeing in year one.
Year 4 of his 6-year contract is make or break for him, he can either ask for a raise and an extension if he is having success by then, or Fulmer is going to have to start looking elsewhere if that's not the case.
blah blah blah. And you know what? You'd love to be in Kentucky's position right now. Too bad your fanbase has ruined the program calling for coach's head. Hint: that's why elite coaches don't come to UT- Unrealistic expectations like the OP.
• First year I expected an up & down season with improvement. I think Pruitt has fairly managed that well by beating Auburn.
• Second year I expect to be competing on a consistent basis. No, I’m not saying we should beat Bama & Georgia. I’m expecting to be competitive with the likes of Mizz, SC, UK, and Vandy.
• Third year I expect 9 or 10 wins the most by having a chance to win the East. Pruitt will have two recruiting classes under his belt with the players he wants in his system. If he’s not winning on a consistent basis by then, his seat will and should get warmer.
I’m not asking to be National Champs but I expect to be in the SEC Championship (Winners of the East) sometime from now.
Seems pretty reasonable to me.
blah blah blah.
one hit wonder shows up to talk football.
ya'll don't pucker up in Knoxville in a couple weeks. y'all come down here nad lose....betcha we won't see you our your ilk around here to well in to bball season........lol.
and if you win....big deal, we suck remember?
lol....go bounce a ball.
Not to be snarky, but under your scenario Johnny Majors would have been fired before he got us to 10 wins, Mark Stoops would have been gone before Ky was where they are today and on and on. Majors had a major rebuild on his hands, as does Pruitt. I believe Coach Fulmer will know if the path is correct and give the time needed. People need to just chill and enjoy being around to watch this. I watched the Majors rebuild and though there were many tough losses, Bama 81 for example, their were some great ones too, 86 Sugar Bowl, for one. This is the first time since Doug Dickey retired that I feel comfortable with the Athletic Dept. Go Big Orange...
Boy butch was unable to do a "rebuild" in five years-in fact he did a deconstruction of anything that was left; however, CP will field a much improved team next season, by year three-we'll be a top 25 all season.
We have a lot of fans disappointed and surprised John Gruden didn’t come here. Look at the Raiders and the turmoil there. Congrats on your season and good luck against Ga. Please beat them and then still be thinking about that when we beat you. You beat Ga, win the East and still can lose to UT. Win for all. That’s my hope. You guys are still gonna lose to Bama because everyone does and that is no shame. And you know what? You'd love to be in Kentucky's position right now.
