Man already giving up on the guy.

Man way to jump the gun there.

Our QB coach and OC. I haven't seen any significant improvement with JG since the season started. He still continues to make the same mistakes. He's not giving KC a fair shot so far.

The play calling leaves a lot to be desired. Poor execution on Offense and lack of getting the ball to your playmakers (Jennings/Callaway/Chandler) and feeding Jordan the ball when it's obvious he can't run inside.

Even Pruitt said he has had to be more involved with game planning on Offense.

I'm hoping that Helton will show improvement during the rest of the season but he's got a big learning curve and not sure Pruitt will be patient enough with him.

Just calling it like I see it right now.

Fair. Being totally honest it was my backward way of admitting that Pruitt is more right than I really wanted to think about when it comes to our talent levels. I'll trust him to bring more Goodens and bite my tongue if he goes on another rant comparing sidelines.

Flip side: what if JG just isn’t that good or it’s not clicking, whatever you want to call it. Some players just never fully pan out. So i also agree that KC not given a fair shot but that could be the HC playing who he wants, never know.

I try not to get too caught up in play calling Bc a lot of it is playing to the result. I think we’ve been pretty balanced and somewhat creative so I’ll givr him a pass on that.

I do like how they have gotten Jennings in the slot more and Chandler out of the backfield.

I'm not satisfied with our rb recruiting. Really wish we kept Gillespie

On the surface i agree but you can literally find RBs anywhere at any star level and they will pan out. You may disagree with me but i think i would put that position as the least prioritize for me in terms of recruiting.

I feel that way about WRs.

I'm going to have to disagree with the analysis on the play where JG fumbled. They were lined up in man to man with 2 high safeties. The safety on the side that's blitzing starts to cheat over pre-snap, they then go man to man after the blitz with a single high safety and the safety that cheated over sliding into man to cover the receiver the blitzing corner left open. It should have been obvious to JG they were blitzing from that side when the safety started to cheat over. The idea that the offense couldn't have figured it out if they hadn't seen that blitz before on film is nonsense.

Go to the 13 second mark and look at how the safeties are lined up and see that the safety on the blitzing side is shifting into position to cover the UT receiver in man.

This is a good catch. Bamas defense has evolved as their offense plays better. They play a lot more shell coverage with 2 high or sometimes 3 high and just hope their pass rushers will get there. You can get some yards now on this defense but then they get more aggressive when you get near the red zone.

Ridiculously premature thought, but if Banks “flashes” at MLB this season, anyone else think that makes juco Lakia Henry “expendable?”

Not saying we’d give him the git necessarily. Rather if he chose to decommit on his own, that we would feel comfortable pursuing another position instead of reaching for a position like we did taking Brandon Davis last year after the ITs and OG whiffs.

Not so sure Brandon Davis is a "reach" if you watch his film and look at his stats from high school. But I don't think Henry is "expendable" if Banks flashes any this season. You still take Henry if he wants to come here regardless.

I think Banks just wants to move toward more playing time.

I agree wholeheartedly that is why he ask to move but I think the opposite happens. I doubt he sees the field at all at LB this season unless it's against Charlotte. Imo he would have gotten more snaps at RB even with his fumble issues

Jennings Taking Advantage of Second Chance With Vols | RTI

NSIAP.. Great article on Jennings. Hoke and Curry kicked him off the team, but Pruitt calls him one of his "favorite players".
Loved this part
Following his standout performance against the Tigers two weeks ago, Jennings turned around and caught six passes for 102 yards against No. 1 Alabama. He’s the first player all season to have a 100-yard receiving game against the vaunted Crimson Tide defense, and that was his first 100-yard game since the Vols’ win over Florida in 2016.[/qoute]

Over half of an RB's success is determined by how well the OL run blocks.

QB isn't quite as dependent on the OL, but it's close.

Give me an average RB/QB with a great OL over an elite QB/RB with an average OL. Every time.

I think your/our standards for play calling have slipped a lot from Butch. I don't think there are any other SEC teams who would want our OC. I watch games with some former D2 players and they laugh at us every game for how predictable we are. By the end of the game they're predicting almost every single play call. It's better than Butch/Scott, but it's still not great. Defensive HC should have hired an elite, proven OC to run that side of the ball.

In the reading I have done about our OL woes the results would probably be a lot better if they just get their assignments and communication down pat. Continuity would help a lot there when paired with continued coaching. It sucks they have been shuffled so much due to injuries and other issues but hopefully we won't see as much of that the back half of the season.

They have also been whipped physically but that is a longer term fix.
