Not great.

I don’t think South Carolina is particularly good, but we have no consistent means of putting points on the board. Auburn was a fluke in that our Hail Mary passes worked and Kevin Steele, who could’ve been our head coach, didn’t adjust and play a zone to take some of that away.

At some point you have to be able to consistently get 3 yards running the football and we’ve proven we can’t do it.
That’s kind of a disingenuous way to put it. By all accounts our staff, WRs, and QBs spent a lot of time practicing back shoulder fades and that practice paid off.

Sure, converting so many long 3rd down plays the way we did isn’t sustainable, but it’s also not like we were just throwing up prayers that had little chance of being completed. The two passes to Callaway were both put in a good spot where he could use his best physical tools to make a play.

One of the biggest takeaways from the last few weeks, IMO, is that our special teams are quietly pretty good. If we can just get to the point where we can somewhat consistently string together drives with 2-3 first downs, we should have a good chance at winning field position battles and giving Cimaglia more chances to put points on the board for us. That alone would give us a good chance against USCe, UK, and Vandy, IMO.

During one contact drill, Banks went hard and delivered one of the loudest pops of the thud tackling drill to Daniel Bituli.
The veteran then gave Banks a quick technique pointer to keep his head up when he goes in to tackle.
In the past Pruitt has called Banks a "ball of energy" and he's certainly showed he's not afraid of contact.

Sounds like Banks knows how to lay the wood.

Helton isn't going anywhere. It is much better than what we have seen the last 4 or 5 years. Mr. Dobbs bailed our offense out many times. Plus this is his first year here. I am glad some on here doesn't have any say who is hired and fired. Won't even give anyone a chance to get it going with some SEC talent.
At this point you can’t really say if he’s much or any better than Debord or Bajakian were (especially if you look at consider how much lower their salaries were).

I kind of think Helton’s agent did him a bit of a disservice with his salary. $1.2 million comes with some big expectations for a coordinator. Compound that with the fact that this is his first job as OC/playcaller and it just seems like a recipe for fan/media criticism and skepticism.

I wasn't really comparing him to other coordinators or didn't mean to. I have nothing against either or those guys or Scott for that matter. I was just thinking that some Don't give anyone a chance before they want to drain the tub. We have to see what he can do with people playing for him that are Sec talent. May be wrong in my thoughts

Got his client, who is, as you said, a first time OC/playcaller, $1.2 million...how again is this a disservice? Isn't that EXACTLY what he's paid to do? It's on Helton to live up to it, or not.

I think Helton has been underwhelming so far. I think he is out of his league right now in the SEC going up against big boy DC's.

Not ready yet and think Pruitt now is seeing that as a first year HC.
I think it’s more new players adjusting to a new system. Better players tend to pick it up faster. Freeze became a genius after he bought that top 5 class...it is what it is.
